N5VLZ:

The PCL Net will take next Monday, Memorial Day,
May 27, 2024, OFF...take time to remember what
the day is actually for. The net returns on
Monday, June 4. June already?? The Christmas
decorations will be out any day now (hi hi).

I've had my share of medical stuff the last 2
weeks...health care workers, orthopedic doctor
(who found I have left hip flexor tendonitis),
and they're going to set up physical therapy for
me. The pain has been at a 5 at times, but it was
at a 9 before the surgery. The hip tendons are
inflamed, and that's why I'm sore. Then, I went
to the eye doctor on Friday. No real vision change,
but no more driving. I see the cardiologist next
Wednesday...and I hope that's the last medical
stuff until July, except for the weekly home health
care visits and therapy. They've also set me up for
a new overnight sleep study, then I go to the urologist
the next day (both in late July). I look to get new
CPAP stuff...would like to do the Inspire CPAP implant,
but my BMI is a bit higher than they'd like it.

We're supposed to have more severe storms Tuesday night
into next week...my area could get at least 4 inches of
rain, if not more. The heat and humidity are already
making their presence felt. I'm using the oscillating
fan, to avoid using the air conditioning as long as
possible. Everyone is talking about how active the
hurricane season will be. If the spring tornado season
has been any indication, it'll be a bad one.

Apparently some hackers got into ARRL, as there has not
been anything from W1AW for nearly a week, and Logbook
Of The World, among other things, isn't working. They
said they don't store social security numbers or credit
card info, and what's there is what you find on the
callsign servers.

Field Day is just over a month a way, followed by the
changing of the Extra Class Question Pool. My group won't
test again until July 13, but I'm sure some folks will
have studied the wrong material. I hear that the new pool
is smaller, but more difficult...glad I don't have to worry
about that anymore.

K0WAV:

GE Daryl and Net. Week was busy, having to wait between
rain events mow the property (or more like mow the KELP).
LOL

County is getting things together for EOC and Comms, and
we had first meeting today to start sorting thing out.
Starting to get more irons into the fire.

All is goo here, and I have sorted out some things in the
Shack for HF data comms, still need to get things more
permanent and get some coax for "Real" antenna installs!!

LOL, it never ends!!

Gratz on Egypt. I too got Egypt on FT8, the solar event that
the auroral scatter had things all messed up. Club member had
beam pointed at Maine and hit New Zealand +10 Weird!!

On the LoTW ARRL stuff, rumor has it to be a ransomware attack,
so good luck to ARRL!!

NS2B:

GE All.

On the ham radio front, I discovered that SDR++ has an M17
decoder module so I setup my hotspot to be M17, manually
linked to a reflector, and listened to some M17 via RF. I
found that M17 is just as finicky with the transmitter and
receiver needing to be within a 100 Hz of each other for
solid decodes.

Speaking of mowing, I've had to mow twice a week for the
past couple of weeks, and I'm not sure it's going to slow
down!

Spent the weekend out at Stonybrook Long Island at a College
Graduation. They graduated 7600+ kids! It was a sight!

KX4AC:

GE All. Yup, we had the local PCARS club meeting last
Monday. It was pretty good. We had a presentation on
antennas, especially the end-fed half wave slopers. The
presenter was pretty gung-ho on them, and had some antenna
patterns and stories to back it up. He gave us info on
where to get the parts to make the UNUN you need to tune
it up, and some tips on cutting it. All in all, a nice
presentation. Makes me want to get out on a POTA excursion.

Beyond that, it was a quiet week. The weekend was a bit rainy,
so I did not get out much, but had a nice rest anyway.

N3MEL:

GE Everyone, it has been a month or mode since I checked in
here, and its nice to have a little time to do so.

I am pretty sure that it has been raining here, is EPA since
this time last year!! But finally some sun today and the rest
of the week they say, fingers crossed.

We started the May PKTNET on Sunday and we have 28 checkins
already, and maybe by Saturday, we'll set a new record.

Been playing on JS8CALL since I installed my 2nd HF antenna,
and having a little run. Scott (WAV) is on there, and we have
had a few chats as well.

Week went by in a flash! Can't say I made much progress...

Have been trying to get FT8 confirmed with a guy in Vietnam,
one in Turkey, and another in Egypt. All are new DXCCs for me.
Weird thing this week is I had a guy in Iceland contact me on
FT8, which is a big reversal for me!

Only had one tornado warning this week, so pretty blah for
Spring in OK (hi hi).

Replies from N5VLZ:

Scott, my yard crop of grass is going to set a record (hi hi).
But, I can't afford another mow until June. FB on the EOC and
the Comms, and sorting out the shack data. A cluttered shack
is a sign of genius (hi hi). That G5 storm killed HF, but
that's wild about the NZ contact instead of ME.

ARRL hasn't said anything more about that, and I haven't seen
anything from W1AW in a week, or anyone else for that matter.

Bob (NY) FB on the M17, graduation, and the lawn mowing. I am
afraid the snakes will get into my lawn if it gets taller.

Carl, FB on the meeting. As noted, the next few days here will
be a washout. I plan to rest over the holiday weekend.

Glenn, glad to have you back with us...don't be a stranger.
FB on the rain, the JS8CALL, and especially the PKTNET...
hope you get that record with checkins.

Bob (OK), it seems like time goes by so fast on running my
nets. As fast as I finish one weeks worth, it's time to start
over. FB on the FT8 contacts, and be glad the weather is calmer.
