N5VLZ:

The Hee Haw song "If It Weren't For Bad Luck,
I'd Have No Luck At All" is the story of my
life right now.

I will not be here next week, due to having
a Sleep Study done, followed by a urologist
visit the next day. So, you can talk bad
about me while I'm gone...I'm to the point
where I just don't care anymore. I'm almost
expecting bad things on a daily basis now,
just like it was after other family members
died, with all that I went through. Finances,
or the lack thereof, are destroying me.

Depression has kicked in big time after my
brother's suicide 2 weeks ago. The money I
was hoping to have for the Post Office Box
has to instead go to major yard work, before
Code Enforcement cites, arrests, and jails
me for having too high grass. They have no
compassion for someone who's disabled, on a
fixed income, with congestive heart failure,
and no family or friends to help me out...
never mind dealing with the affects of my
brother's suicide 2 weeks ago.

They feel I am nothing more than a useless
eater, and I should be dead. I've cut my
eating to 1 meal a day, under 500 calories,
and have decided to go on a bread and butter
diet, with only buying that, plus Depends
and Underpads for my groceries. The medical
folks aren't going to like that, but I can't
afford it anymore.

I'm long overdue for something good to happen
in my life, financially and otherwise...but
every time I hope and pray for it, it NEVER
occurs. The same thing applies also to
relationships. At this stage of life, most
folks have too much baggage and drama, and I
don't want or need that.

I'm about to the point where I will have to
give up my internet and cell phone because
of cost, which will kill my hobbies. Then,
no one will know if I'm a Silent Key or not.
What I pay for these is what a vanilla
landline costs, without long distance. I
would still have to give up those and all my
hobbies, if I went into an assisted living
center...and I'd lose the will to live real
fast.

To top it off, someone has apparently
blacklisted me on Facebook, where I can't
post any originating messages...so I have
to have others post logs or messages for me.
The Facebook check-ins for the ham radio nets
that I do are a courtesy for those who can't
get to a rig at net time, for whatever reason.

I only have the bare bones Medicaid to pay the
basic Medicare premium, and am ineligible for
any other benefits, including any public
transportation. So, I rarely leave the house,
and look at 4 walls all day, with no one to talk
to. Most days, I get no phone calls, and no
visitors. What family is left is older than me,
outside of Arkansas, and unable to travel.

I set the alarm system off by accident, and had
to scramble to call ADT to report it was an
accident, to avoid a police response and a false
alarm fine of $200. I don't want to know what else
can go wrong. Murphy has taken up residence in my
life, and I wish he'd go away...I surely didn't
invite him in.

I got disconnected before the net, so I figured
this is just another thing going wrong in my
life, and I saw Bob got disconnected as well. I
guess everything is failing.

I feel like the basset hound getting his ear gnawed
on by the chihuahua, saying "How Long, Oh Lord??".
I better stop now, or I won't be able to see the
computer monitor for the tears in my eyes.

KX4AC:

GE all. Gee, Daryl, I am sorry you are having such
a bad time. If you want to talk sometime I am
available, at least in the evenings.

For me, I am doing OK. A bit busy at work, but I
am taking next week off, so that should be restful.
No particular plans.

A week ago I built a PDP8 replica from "Obsolescence
Guaranteed" and so have been playing with that a bit.

It has been very rainy here, so inside projects are
the order of the day.

I think we finally have the local BBS/digipeater
working properly. There is still one local station
we cannot connect to, but we can connect to another
station on the same port/frequency, so we're pretty
sure the problem is on the other end.

Last week we had a talk by the local National Weather
Service representative at the local ham club. He says
we are expecting a big hurricane season here. It has
to do with the end of El Nino. Apparently, when the
water warms back up in the Pacific, it also changes the
weather patterns over the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico,
and hurricanes can develop more. So, we will have to
see what happens. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I guess that's about all for now. Back to net >>>

N5VLZ:

Carl, I think Beryl was the opening act. Colorado State
University raised its original forecast...so when the
Cape Verde Season arrives in 2 1/2 weeks, it'll be an
explosion.

FB on the PDP8 replica and the BBS.

GE Bob (OK), how was your week?? >>>

**

KF5TVG:

GE All on the net! Daryl, sorry you've been in a bad
patch for awhile, but don't give up on us. We're glad
you're here in our community!

I've been tinkering more with meshtastic on 915MHz.
Have a node in my attic, and another at a friend's
office 2 miles from here. Will put a 3rd node about 3
miles from him, to see how well it works at these
distances. May see some others locally join in, and
expand the mesh.

Still participating in Hamword, Winlink Wednesday,
and Tulsa ARES Winlink Wednesday weekly challenge.

That's about all from here. Back to you Daryl>>>

**

N5VLZ:

Bob, if I have to give up the internet and cellphone,
I'll have no choice. I spent all weekend rebuilding
the Windows 11 registry...again. I don't even play
the games on my BBS anymore.

FB on the meshtastic 915 Mhz deal.

GE Rick, how was your week?? >>>

**

VA7RBP:

Good evening Daryl and all on NET.

It has been hot here since the beginning of the month,
so only doing stuff outside for a couple hours in the
mornings.

I missed last week, but I didn't have anything exciting
to report, anyway.

Not much radio play, the bands have not been cooperating...

The garden shed project is still going on, the contractor
(a ham buddy) is only working on it on the weekends, and
he knocks off once the temp gets uncomfortable.

I've mostly be doing a lot of reading, indoors, staying
cool. It looks like that's going to be the norm for the
duration of the hot weather.

I guess that's all I have, so BTU Daryl >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Rick, we're under Heat Warnings through Wednesday, followed
by a risk of severe weather Wednesday afternoon through
Thursday...then highs in the 80s to end the week. I wish
the cold winter would get here, so my grass would quit
growing. It is too hot to be outside.

GE Bob (NY), I saw you got disconnected before the net, just
like I did...thought the deal was going to crash. Hope your
week was better than mine. >>>

**

NS2B:

GE All!

Yeah, I was running late and thought I'd connect with my
phone. It was having none of that! hihi

I finally located to my proper position!

Not much new to report on the radio front. Still working
on the Xiegu G90 FT8 project. (Need to put together a power
cable). Been working on my amprnet project.

Like Rick, I'm finding it's not going as easy as I had hoped
it would. But, still pluggin' along.

Went down to the track Saturday and flagged a bunch of
Ferrari races. It was a really nice day.

That's it for me. BTU Daryl >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Bob, glad it was just the phone. For whatever reason,
inside medical facilities, my cellphone won't make or
receive phone calls, but works with the facility wi-fi.
So, I have to go outside into the blast furnace to call.

FB on the radio deal and the races.

That's it for round 1...back to the top for final comments.

Carl, anything else for us?? >>>

**

KX4AC:

Nothing more from me this week. Thanks for running the net,
Daryl, we all appreciate it. 73s to all. >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Thanks for being here...depression is hitting me hard right
now.

Bob (OK), anything else?? >>>

**

KF5TVG:

Nothing else. Hope weather moderates a bit so we get relief
from the heat. 73 to all. >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Bob, thanks for being here. The colder weather aggravates
the arthritis, but it means no insects, no heat illness, no
mowing the yard, and no tornadoes.

Rick, anything else?? >>>

**

VA7RBP:

Nope, that's it for me for this week. Everyone have a great
week, stay well, 73 until next time. BTU Daryl >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Take care, Rick...catch you down the log.

Bob (NY), sorry I have to miss next week. I already know I
have severe sleep apnea, but if I can't get an alternate
CPAP that won't fry me during lightning, I guess I'm out of
luck.

Anything else?? >>>

**

NS2B:

Nothing more here - everyone stay cool - have a good week -
73 >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Thanks for being here, Bob...have a good week.

That's a wrap on tonight's PCL Net. As noted, I won't be
here next week, due to a sleep study, but hope to be back
July 29. I'll post the scribe sometime tomorrow. 73 and
GN DE N5VLZ. >>>
