N5VLZ:
GE All, and welcome to the Oct 21 2024 PCL
Net.
No early checkins.
Net order is Bob (NY), Carl, Mike, Rick,
Bob (OK), and whoever else may show up.
I'm dispensing with my comments, as I'm
watching the doorbell camera for some
prescriptions to arrive, and have the
capture buffer on for the scribe.
The time change is on Sunday, Nov. 3, at
2am local time. Don't forget to "fall
back", or you'll be an hour early for
church, work, school, doctors appointments,
ham radio nets, etc. Hard to believe it's
almost November.
I waited all day for prescriptions that
I had ordered last Thursday to arrive...
they are still not here at net time, but
at least the doorbell camera is charged
back up, so I can watch it during the net.
I canceled The Pun In Life Net for the
second week in a row, as I didn't know how
long it would take for the medications to
arrive. I have to take them with food, so
I'm fasting right now. I may be a bad ham,
and go to bed without supper (hi hi).
I'm slowly getting items together for the
insurance company from Lyft, after the
wreck a week ago. I've gotten 3 ads from
attorneys wanting me to file a lawsuit,
and several want me to do such. While I
had a similar wreck in January, 2020, I
was hurt far more with that wreck, than
I was with this one. In short, I'm not in
any more pain than I usually am, and I'm
not going to lie about my condition. I
mainly want the bills for the ambulance
run and emergency room paid...anything
else is "gravy".
59 of Arkansas' 75 counties are under
burn bans, and while there may be some
rain this week, we'll be lucky to get
more than trace amounts. Some extended
models are showing a stormy November,
with a severe weather threat. We had a
frost a few weeks ago, but not yet a
killing freeze. I'm going to skip the
lawn mowing another 2 weeks, since we
haven't had rain here for nearly a
month now.
I hope to go out this week to early
vote, as well as make a Post Office
Box run, and go downtown to get the
police report from the wreck. I don't
know if I'll go out to a Halloween
Square Dance this Saturday or not. I
need to order some more food, but I'm
going to wait and see how much the Lyft
runs will cost me.
GE Bob (NY), how was your week?? >>>
**
NS2B:
GE All!
An uneventful week. Didn't do much
radio wise. Our main Winlink hub came
back online here. I had nothing to do
with that - it just happened!
Spent the weekend in New Hampshire.
Their foliage is at peak now - it was
really pretty.
I think we're into Indian Summer - it
was 75 here today! For October, that's
unheard of!
Not much else happening here - BTU

N5VLZ:
Bob (NY), FB on the Winlink hub, the
fall foliage, and the Indian summer. It
looks like this could be warmest Halloween
on record for many areas.
GE Carl, how was your week?? >>>
**
KX4AC:
GE All, we had a pretty quiet week here
which was nice after the hurricane.
I missed the net last week for an NTS
class. It was interesting, but mostly they
just went over the training material on the
web site. I am hoping to get into NTS after
I retire, and move back to AZ where I can
rig up a halfway decent HF antenna.
Lets see ... it looks like there is an ISS
contact this Thursday that I should be able
to hear around lunchtime ... I look forward
to that.
Also, the rescheduled hamfest here is
scheduled for next week, Nov 1-2, so looking
forward to that.
We had a very pleasant weekend, I had a nice
walk on Saturday. 75 degrees and not too
humid. We are getting to the nicer time of
year.
I guess that's about it. Back to net >>>
**
N5VLZ:
Carl, FB on the NTS, ISS, hamfest, and wx.
I'm ready for the cooler wx.
GE Mike, how was your week?? >>>
**
KE8QPX:
GE everyone. The week flew by again.
Funny that the temp here in MI is the same
as FL and NY about 75 today. Colors are
just about peak.
A very nice day today. Haven't done a lot
in radio, although I watched an interesting
video today about the guy who ran the net
after the NC hurricane. Callsign is K2DMG.
Had never done a net before, and ran it for
about 10 days. He did extremely well, so
they say.
That's about it. Back to net>>>
**
N5VLZ:
Mike, I saw a video on YouTube where a 17
year old girl from NC has volunteered to help
a local police department with dispatcher
duties...she did quite well.
Some fall color here, but everything is so dry.
GE Rick, hope you had good Thanksgiving last
week. How was your week?? >>>
**
VA7RBP:
GE Daryl and all on the NET!
I had a pretty good week.
The temperatures here are cooling, but so far,
it has been a nice Fall, no snow yet, but it's
coming. The high mountain passes are getting
some...
I've been doing my usual PACTOR sessions on
40M and 20M in the mornings, and tried some
ROBUST PACKER on 20M a few times.
I call a VHF NOON-TIME NET Monday, Wednesday,
and Friday.
Been getting out for my walks most days.
I check into an 80M OLIVIA NET on week nights.
Saturdays, I join breakfast and coffee sessions
with the radio club guys in Castlegar and Nelson.
Saturday evenings, we have a Tech Club meeting.
Our latest project for Halloween involves arduinos,
servos and 3D printed eyeballs...
Arlene and I got out vote on Saturday in our
provincial general election...no results yet...
We also got our latest round of COVID and FLU shots
last week.
And I have been doing lots of reading...sci-fi
stuff...
That's about it, so BTU Daryl >>>

N5VLZ:
Rick, FB on the wx, ham radio stuff, breakfast/coffee
sessions the voting, reading, etc. I hope to early
vote this week, but am watching the budget, as I'm
almost out of food. We might see some rain Friday
night, but I'm not optimistic. Got my flu shot last
week, although the PCP forgot to enter the appointment
for the full physical in the computer, even though I
had the card for it...so I have to wait 3 weeks (sigh!).
I should've sent them a bill (hi hi).
GE Bob (OK), how was your week?? >>>
**
KF5TVG:
GE Daryl and all on the net!
Last week, I mentioned I was helping transfer some ham
equipment from a family of an SK to some deserving hams
with disabilities. The radios were delivered last
Tuesday, and those hams were thrilled!
My Icom HF radio blinked and reset itself today, and now
I don't get any audio from it. Not sure what happened,
but I'm very nervous I'm going to have to send it in for
repair. Fingers crossed it wakes up tomorrow, ready to go
again.
Bought an adafruit "Monster Mask" a few years ago on sale,
and am thinking about putting it out in the bushes next
to the front door on Halloween. It has two LCD panels
spaced about the same as eyes on a human head, and a
microcontroller to generate a random series of eyeball
and eyelid movements. Might spook the little ones!
That's all for now. Back to net control>>>
**
N5VLZ:
Bob (OK), FB on the gear transfer, but bummer on the
audio going TU. I won't be doing any candy, as I'll be
doing nets, plus being on the threshold of type 2 diabetes,
I can't have any.
That's it for round 1...back to the top for final comments.
Bob (NY), got your email, and I concur. Thanks for the BBS.
Anything else for us?? >>>
**
NS2B:
Nothing more here - everyone have a good week - 73! >>>
**
N5VLZ:
Take care Bob, see you next week.
Carl, anything else?? >>>
**
KX4AC:
Everyone have a great week. Bob (OK) pretty sure that
monster mask would scare ME if not the little ones.
It sounds fun. Good luck.
73s to all and back to net >>>
**
N5VLZ:
Thanks for being here, Carl...see you next week.
Mike, anything else?? >>>
**
KE8QPX:
No. Thank you for the net.>>>
**
N5VLZ:
Thanks for being here.
Rick, anything else?? >>>
**
VA7RBP:
That's it for me as well, everyone have a great week,
stay well, 73 until next time. BTU Daryl >>>

N5VLZ:
Thanks for being here, Rick...have a good week.
Bob (OK), anything else?? >>>
**
KF5TVG:
Nothing else. Thanks to Bob (NY) and Daryl for the
net! 73 all!>>>
**
N5VLZ:
Thanks for being here, Bob.
Still no delivery, but that wraps up tonight's net.
I'll post the scribe sometime Tuesday. 73 and GN DE
N5VLZ, going back to watch the front door...about
as much fun as watching paint dry (hi hi). >>>
**
P.S. The prescriptions finally arrived about 15
minutes after the net closed. I'm hurting from
sitting by the door all day, so I'm crashing out
after I send this scribe. DS
