Hello Warren;
NEBBS still exists as a PBBS group but is hardly ever used... like a lot
of the PBBS groups unfortunately. As for EastNet, it's been around for
a few decades - founded by K2BJG/SK. Unlike years past though, now we
have meetings twice a year. We gather to discuss link problems, pool
resources, etc in an effort to try and keep the packet train on its
tracks. Some links have gone dark, others are in need of assistance,
and some we have no idea what they're up to or if they even have any
interest.

With the modern age of tech devices, we're trying to revive the underlaying
IP network we once had years ago. It's moving at a snail's crawl but it is
moving. I suppose that says something ... just what it says is uncertain hi!
We have a bulletin group on the FBB systems called NESBBS which our news is
posted on. Its supposed to remain within the EastNet boards but it may leak
out to others. IPCNJ:WB2ONA-3 is back on the "air" if you want to try to
find NESBBS posts which may not make it to your current BBS. You can hit
it via telnet wb2ona.ampr.org:3694 and gateway out to your Lakehurst
BBS.

There's very little public postings going on though, and this appears to be
everywhere from what I've seen. Those who are on packet still seem to be
trapped into a Winlink shell only and don't participate on the PBBS network.
Guess they're more interested in internet based email systems than RF mail
systems? For this, we should bring back Hank's old LLL group ;-> Also gone
are the days when we had protocols that spoke a native tongue with each
other of sorts. This has even trickled down to voice repeaters in their
various digital modes. People get brainwashed into thinking this is good
for the hobby but all it does is creates a tower of babel syndrome where
one technology doesn't know the other exists and segments us into smaller
mini systems.

Good to see you're still active though! We need the chatter!!
