I agree the "internet" didn't kill packet any more than a gun kills
anything.

1) Yes I did indicate HUMANs ie. PBBS SysOps were the ones setting up
routes using the internet, then HUMAN PBBS SysOps running SatGates decided
to turn them off and sell their equipment due to the fact that no traffic
was actually gong through since it had already been received via the
internet route.

2) Those were the complaints I would receive from users back in the late
90's when most of them if they had internet it was dialup and they only
checked email once a day. I'm not talking recent times when people check
multiple times a day on their smart phone.

3a) Yes I have offered to help out in that regard only to be turned down.
The political atmosphere has changed in the club and not so much for the
better. Since I've only just recently be reinstated as a member of the
club ater a long absence they may just be waiting to see if I'm going to
be hanging around for awhile I don't know. I did it before and am willing
to do it again.

I remember about 10 years ago getting back on packet from Schoharie NY
only to find the link from the Catskills to the lower Hudson Valley went
out and I could find no link back to K2PUT. I don't see one now.

As always we shouldn't read our own biases into the words of others. When
I mentioned the internet I was referring to the SysOps who used the
internet for routing traffic.
