NEWS FOR THE MIDLANDS

We start with clubs that have several events this week. Burton 
Amateur Radio Club has a net from 10am around 145.575MHz today and 
next Sunday. On Wednesday there's a club night and Thursday sees a

Cheltenham Amateur Radio Association has a net from 8.30am today and 
next Sunday on 50.220 USB. On Tuesday there's a QRS CW net around

Coventry Amateur Radio Society has an open net on Monday from 8pm on 
145.375MHz FM and / or 7.16MHz SSB ± QRM. Thursday sees an open net 
from 8pm on 50.175MHz SSB and on Friday it's the Portable Challenge.

Leicester Radio Society has a Morse class on Monday, followed by a

Lincoln Short-Wave Club is holding a committee meeting on Monday and 
a formal meeting on Wednesday. The simplex net is on Thursday on

NEWS FOR THE NORTH OF ENGLAND

We start with the announcement that South Shields and District 
Amateur Radio Club is re-opening after a gap of 20 years. The club 
will meet on Wednesdays from 7pm at Boldon Scout Hut, Grey Horse Car 
Park, Front Street, East Boldon, NE36 0SJ. The club callsign is 
G3DDI. The club plans to become a registered exam centre and offer 
Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced training. For details email

NEWS FOR THE SOUTH WEST

We start with news that Weston-Super-Mare Radio Society has this year 
introduced a series of five 2 metre DF hunts. Spearheaded by Jim 
Bryant, M0JWB, they will be held on a Monday club night or a Sunday 
afternoon, and start from a hilltop lay by just outside Weston, NGR 
ST359579. The fox will be hiding somewhere within a 16km radius and 
make 2 minute transmissions every 10 minutes. Frequencies and other 
details will be announced at the meeting point. After the final 
transmission and the location announcement a buffet supper will be 
provided for all participants in a nearby hostelry. It is hoped that 
members from other radio clubs in the area will participate in this 
event and there is a GBP 50 prize for the overall winner of the
