NEWS FOR NORTHERN IRELAND

Coverage of the GB2RS news broadcasts for Region 8, Northern Ireland,
is improving with the addition of two new DMR repeaters and the use
of social media. GB7HZ in Strabane, kept by Michael Conaghan, MI0HOZ,
operational since the 28th of December, with TG8/S2 now available for
reception of GB2RS broadcasts. GB7MF in Magherafelt, kept by Jackie
Doyle, MI0JPD, has also been approved and the relevant NoV Issued.
This repeater it is hoped will go live shortly, with GB2RS available
from switch-on. The reading team has also been experimenting with a
live stream to a Facebook Group, GIOTA, for GI On The Air, with great
success thus far. This has meant that GI amateurs who are away from
home or out of linked repeater coverage can now hear the Sunday
broadcast from wherever they are, provided of course they have
internet access. Best report so far has been from David, 2I0BSA, from
Southern Iraq!
