PCL Packet Net Summary for January 29, 2018

GUEST NCO: WX1DER

Early checkin: N0KFQ, NS2B

Net Order is: K6JTQ, George, KE0FOE, Caleb, KF5JRV Scott, N9LCF Gene, KC5RBH Jeff, VA7RBP, Rick,

***

TOPICS:

WX1DER: 3 New Technicians, and 2 new Generals at license exam session, car in shop for possible oil leak, had to get up early for apartment inspection (which I passed), real tired tonight

K6JTQ and KE0FOE, a mellow week, but got a lot done, weather has been mild, but it'll get colder, then warm up. Got a skywarn repeater back on the air last week, and fine tuning it for severe weather season, name confusion, haven't purchased software for taxes, am a bit of a procrastinator, still having fun with DMR and C4FM as time allows. Caleb finishing up homework tonight. need to start taxes soon, hope everyone stays warm and healthy.

KF5JRV: got onion sets at the store, so spring isn't too far off, published first book this weekend on Kindle publishing (a reprint of a murder trial that happened in 1891)...it was surprisingly easy

N9LCF: got a dusting of snow, using cold days to get taxes compiled to take to the accountant, trying to avoid the flu (Indiana is in full epidemic now), many have died from it, nursing homes and hospitals full of patients, and curtailing visitations;

KC5RBH: trying to keep head above water, Dad had an infection, non-flu related, but fell twice while out walking several days ago, he broke a rib, has many sprains and bruises, all from vertigo from the root issue, he can't drive for at least 2 weeks, I don't drive due to vertigo and other issues, hard to keep up doctors appointments, was in ER the first time for 9 hours, heard the hospital call they were on divert. We all wore provided face masks to prevent us from getting the flu ourseves, second time he went to the ER about 24 hours after the first time he ahd a temp of 103.5, they roomed him in the ER for a long time, as the hospital was full, but he's home now. on a lighter note, working extremely hard on being about to get back into Jeff's 2 meter packet here in the tulsa area, i've never seen an RF hole that's around his new residence, it's unfortunate, and i'm not ready to give up on getting the rf path restored between us. I've been able at time to make 40m Winmore work about 13 miles, I don't know how, though. We have upped our game in a huge way with major improvements to the KF5RHH-7 digipeater that's 2 or so west of Mounds, Oklahoma. It's not working, we need another digi that he can get into. We don't mind making another hop if it completes the 2 meter path on a consistent basis. had an aunt die supposedly from the flu last friday, and funeral isn't until this friday. only 15 miles from home with our transportation situation, she had lot of health issues to deal with, so not sure if it was a flu death.

VA7RBP: late for the net, as there was a mailbox delivery notification on expecting some antenna goodies, so I raced off to the post office to get it, but they said package, will be available tomorrow. lots of snow this week, so I'll be out shoveling.
