Writing as an aging member of the Woodstock Nation I can say hey man, it was
a BLAST! The rest of you old goats just can't understand how much fun there
is playing in the mud with no mommies wagging fingers, yelling WAIT 'TILL
YOUR FATHER GETS HOME and tossing you in the tub. A film crew was there and
so was a recording van making a movie and producing an album, On both is Arlo
Guthrie's famous phrase "The (New York) Thruway is CLOSED, man. <giggle>"
There's so much more but not enough room here, give a Google, see a lot. Oh,
almost forgot the movie segment about "sanitation facilities" if you can call
them sanitary, somebody asked a cameraman what he was doing. He replied
"Making a movie." "What's the name of the movie?" "Port O San." "mumble"
Woodstock II? In the words of Frank Zappa "Strictly commercial." and IMO it
sucked. THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER AS GREAT AS WOODSTOCK!!!
As a footnote, back in my CB daze some friends and I went to a "coffee break"
with a band that incidentally sucked and halfway through it poured rain. The
parking lot turned to a sea of mud and that's when the fun started, chasing
girls around and tackling them... SPLAT! Yep, Staten Island, NY was closer
than Woodstock and just as much fun!
"New Jersey, the most American of all states. It has everything from
wilderness to the Mafia. All the great things and all the worst,
like Route 22."
