N5VLZ:
GE All, and welcome to the May 11, 2026,
PCL Net. No early checkins.
Net order is Daryl, George, Bob (NY), Carl,
Scott, Rick, and whoever else may show up.
George was here when I first connected, and
said he'd be back at net time. He'll still
be logged if he does not make it back.
Our next net holiday is 2 weeks from tonight,
Monday, May 25, for Memorial Day. The PCL Net
will take that night off. Remember that it's
not just another day for picnics, etc.
Another day, another Skywarn activation (sigh!).
There were several reports of large hail, and
some tropical funnel clouds noted, but none of
them touched down. At least we have some quiet
weather for a few days.
The lawn man is coming tomorrow, plus a delivery
of an HDMI cable for my mini projector that I had
bought to do my presentations with, along with
some baby aspirin for heart health. The backup
power supply caused a hum in the audio on my rig,
so I operated the weather net yesterday just on
AC power. The rain has lowered the fire danger,
but created a battle between the grass and weeds,
on which can grow faster (hi hi). The power supply
will run my laptop and the mini-projector for when
I do ham radio or other presentations. It has 260
ANSI lumens, but I couldn't see spending more, when
I can just dim the lights in the room.
I see my PCP on Thursday, and get an A1C check. I
know he'll chew me out on my weight, but even on a
diet of tuna sandwiches on wheat bread with honey
barbecue sauce, chips, cookies, and fruit punch
(at times, only once a day), it's hard to lose
weight. If I become type 2 diabetic on the A1C,
that'll be a big game changer, but I won't discard
any of the food that I have. Maybe he'll put me on
that GLP-1 medication.
While Dayton/Xenia Hamvention is this week, I will
not be there, but I'm still GO for the hamfests in
Shreveport, LA...Mena, AR...and Huntsville, AL.
The local ham radio club meeting last week did a
neat presentation on Winlink. I need to get a
quickie primer, on using it and HamWord...so,
please email me at n5vlz@duck.com if you have
that info.
With switching webhosting for my homepage and
for a local area ham radio net (currently on
extended hiatus), both pages have gone TEMPORARILY
DARK, until I can purchase FTP hosting packages
next month. I did update my QRZ bio with the info,
and having to temporarily remove the hyperlink.
I'll restore that sometime in early June.

GE, Wayne, you'll be after Rick.
George didn't make it back yet, so we'll start with
Bob (NY). How was your week?? >>>
**
NS2B:
GE All!
On my 3rd guess for Hamword today. Still pondering.
This was NASCAR weekend for me. It was cold and muddy!
Our campsite wasn't terrible - others were worse, so I
shouldn't complain. This morning, as we were packing up
to leave the track, we witnessed 2 tractors in tandem
trying to get a 5th wheel camper out of the mud.
No success. And that was just one of many in that
situation.
Otherwise good racing. Even got drafted to flag a corner
for the Cup race as they were short people.
I see HF has been keeping weird hours. My buddy in
Wisconsin linked up at 1AM this week! That's past my
bedtime hihi!
I'll forward you the Hamword invite message. It'll get
you started.
BTU Daryl >>>
**
N5VLZ:
Bob, first it sounds like some serious car wash money
will be spent afterwards (hi hi).
As for HF, that doesn't surprise me. I skipped the nets
Sunday, due to Skywarn operations.
Thanks for sending me that Hamword deal.
GE Carl, how was your week?? >>>
**
KX4AC:
GE All. Had a pretty nice weekend.
They rescheduled my Saturday dialysis to today, a bit of
a delay, but I usually do OK.
Anyway, so for Saturday I went to the zoo. We actually have
two zoos here, I went to the "World Wildlife" zoo. It was a
bit warm in the afternoon, but not too bad in the shade.
I got some DIN cables so that I can setup my "all-in-one"
board and see how it works.
Not much else going on here. Back to net >>>
**
N5VLZ:
Carl, bummer on the delayed dialysis, but FB on the zoo trip,
and the DIN cables.
GE Scott, how was your week?? >>>
**
K0WAV:
Well, it was a bit of chaotic week, weird intermittent battery
issues on the Mrs. vehicle kept me hopping and fetching, I
think I have it licked but only time will tell.
Had to replace the HVAC blower resistor on my Jeep, and that
was a practice in contortions that no know human should have
to go through to get under the dash to access things. But, all
fixed now, with a minimum of blood letting and bruised parts,
hehehe.
Daryl, just spent a four hour round with the grass and weed
fight.
I think I have my HF antenna site scoped out to get my shack
back on the air at my new house.
Did some prep and proof of concept work for an AllStarLink
node and Echolink node for the Club on a repurposed laptop
and debian 13; the internet stuff is getting more widespread.
There is a ham group that is starting a VPN service to help
hams get around CGNAT and other barriers. I need to do more
looking into that and see if it will solve those issues.
BTU Daryl >>>
**
N5VLZ:
Scott, you sure had a busy week. Bummer on the vehicular issues,
but glad you came out of it relatively unscathed. I donate blood
to the mosquitoes (hi hi). As for the contortions, that's what I
do in getting dressed each morning (hi hi). At least I have someone
to do my lawn for me. FB on the HF antenna, and the node work for
that computer...GL with all that.
GE Rick, how was your week?? >>>
**
VA7RBP:
Good evening Daryl and all on NET.
Another non-eventful week..., except for Mother's Day yesterday.
We went for a Mother's Day Brunch, the food was great, and I ate
too much... as usual, then napped all afternoon.
The bands are still not great, so not much enjoyable radio activity.
I've just been trying to get out for walks, and enjoying the warm
weather.
Sorry, not a lot of content... that's it for me, so BTU Daryl >>>
**
N5VLZ:
Rick, no problem. I'm sure everyone else had the same idea to eat
out yesterday, then had to nap afterwards. I spent my day with Skywarn
operations. The static crashes aren't making HF much better, either.
FB on the walks and warm weather.
GE Wayne, how was your week?? >>>
**
KC2NJV:
GE not much going in.... hope you all enjoyed Mom's Day...btu
**
N5VLZ:
Wayne, it's getting slow for summer...but weather and holidays
permitting, I'll be here.
That's it for round 1, back to the top for final comments.
George didn't make it back, but he'll be logged.
**
KC2NJV:
got to run........ 73 y'all
**
N5VLZ:
73, Wayne...catch you next time.
Bob (NY) thanks for the use of the BBS. Anything else?? >>>
**
NS2B:
Nothing else here - everyone have a good week - 73 >>>
**
N5VLZ:
Thanks for being here, Bob, and for sending the HamWord stuff.
Carl, anything else?? >>>
**
KX4AC:
Nothing else from me. Everyone have a great week. Type at you
again next week. 73s to all. >>>
**
N5VLZ:
Take care, Carl...thanks for being here.
Scott, anything else?? >>>
**
K0WAV:
Nothing here Everyone have a great week and 73 >>>
**
N5VLZ:
Take care, Scott...see you next time.
Rick, you get to wrap it up tonight, anything else?? >>>
**
VA7RBP:
Nope, that's all for this week, everyone have a great week,
stay well 73 until next time. BTU Daryl >>>
**
N5VLZ:
Take care, Rick...see you next week.
That'll do it for tonight's net. I'll post the scribe later
this evening.
Stay safe, healthy, weather aware, and radio-active.
73 and GN DE N5VLZ. >>>
