connecting via HF, but having conncting problems. he got to go first.
Coming in via AXIP - I saw it return some packets, but no go; maybe next week. It has been quite a day, and not totally good. The parents and I did get out to Tulsa's $500 milllion new park, "The Gathering Place". It's very nice, but for that kind of money, it should be. It's still not open in all areas. It really has too much to mention. They do have a great website however. As far as the Arkansas River, I just feel blessed that I don't live along it. I used to feel we could trust the Corp of Engineers, but they can't get their numbers straight from the day before. It's a lot of water, and I'm sure that people are starting to notice. We don't need another disaster like we had in '86. It as a fun day until Dad fell and hurt himself again. I don't think too bad, but he is going to have to realize that things are going to have to change for his safety.

1) deleted a bunch of old windows directories from previous versions, and uninstalled a bunch of programs I didn't need...freed up a ton of disk space. Now, I need to defragment and optimize the hard drive. Might as well prep for Windows 10 Home upgrade by Christmas.
really gnawing the fence financially and food wise. One TV dinner, 8 slices of bread and butter, and 2 liters of flavored water a day, is all I eat. Will be under 200 pounds in short order at this rate.
Visited my Mom in the nursing home for Mothers Day. She's under 120 pounds now...may not last much longer. A whole new slew of challenges will develop after she dies. At least her funeral and mine are paid for. My brother's is not, so that's another expense...like I need more stress right now.
none of us are getting any younger, sad to say.
Have moved the QCWA Net, Trains Net, and Food Net to the QuadNet Array. The food net is now on Saturday at 8pm Eastern. www.openquad.net has details. So, I am here for the duration, and dutifilly recording a nice log for you. Will send it via outpost later.
Hope all the folks going to Hamvention have a good time for those of us who can't go. Bad flooding and hail in southeast Texas the other day. We finally are drying out here, but more storms arrive over the weekend. I just hope I can get my nets in between them.
2) will be glad when the finances settle out. still would love to do an Amtrak trip to the Duke City Hamfest in September, but as of now, that's not in the cards.
Scott's XYL sure has a green thumb!! Saw several pictures of the greenhouse on Facebook...what a setup!! I'll bet she'll have a lot to enter at the Madison Country Fair this fall in the food competition. Hope you can make sense out of my transcriptions (hi hi).

Was in Fort Worth this last weekend with kids and grandkids for a 6th birthday for one of the little ones. With 10 additional girls and a few grownups to a professional play "Wizard Of Oz". It was pretty close to the Judy Garland movie version, and was fun to hear all the girls squeal when the wicked witch would come on stage!!
Tonight, I've been trying to get one last state (Rhode Island) for FT8 WAS on on 40 meters. Just need 3 more states on 20 meters. Hawaii will likely be the hardest, with my HOA antenna in the attic.
Headed over toe KB5NJR's house for our local net that starts in a bit, so 73 to all.

1) Got the R5 Antenna running great, 20 meters FT8 has been really good this week. The higher bands, not so much.
I guess that's pretty much what I've been up to...getting a sore back from sitting (hi hi).
Temperatures here have been in the 80s this week, fire season has started with a wild fire a couple of hundred miles northwest of us, and I've been keeping an eye on the big rock out in the river besides us, it's almost submerged, so the water is rising...no danger yet, but there have been evacuations around the wild fire area.
My IC-756 PRO III started acting up with all the heavy usage this week, I found a burned pin in the power connector and ordered a new connector, had to switch over to the FT-890 to coninue playing.
2) I'm looking forward to attending a hamfest one of these days. If anything shows up in Spokane or Boise, that would be about the closest one.
Asked N9LCF What day and time for that net.

The weather has turned very pleasant. It is 73 right now, and the sun is shining. It looks like the rain is over for a few days. The hay crop will be coming down in the next day or so.
Jackie has been busy setting out plants. She has a bell pepper on a plant already. Also, some of the tomatoes are blooming. She has been putting up an electric fence around the perimeter to keep out the rabbit and the deer.
I still have grow light issues and the ferrite chokes I believe made things worse. My next step is to ground the metal frames.

Sorry for the late connect. was out mowing the lawn, and just came in.
The wife had a big crock pot of home made chili ready and I chowed down, not realizing how late the time was.
During the last 2 weeks, we've had 4.5 inches of rain, and the lawn is just drying down enough to mow again. The farmers have not been in the fields here since the last week of April. There is still water standing in the low areas on my farm.
Just a reminder to all, that we are starting a digital net on 80 meters around 3.580.5 upper side band. Plus or minus QRM. We are using the FLDigi program in the MT63-1000L mode. We are calling the net the INTEROPERABILITY net. The aim is to merge ham radio with local EOC and MARFS groups for communications down to the local leve. This week will be our second net.
Net is Tuesday evening at 8pm Eastern.
