Commentary:

WX4QZ

1) Severe storms out of here for the moment, but threat remains into

Wednesday, then the heat and humidity arrives.

Told a ham in the Memphis area (from a message area on the BBS) about the

PCL Net...may get a new member soon.

Wondering if we'd take the night off for Memorial Day.

Recovering from a fall at the QTH last Wednesday.

2) Decided to let NS2B put in his own comments to the scribe.

Running the heat overnight and the AC in the daytime.

Thanks to N3FIX for the words on recovering from the fall.

Fine business on the senior center ham station. Wish the purists would

realize that later in life, not every ham can have access to RF.

The ham in Memphis was pleased when told he could access the net via his

laptop and wi-fi.

My Mom took a fall at the nursing home again, not sure how much longer

she'll last. After she's gone, there's a whole set of new challenges.

N9LCF

1) Weather the main topic again. Storms not in my area, but we got rain

again, and the farmers haven't been able to finish spring planting.

Apologies to Rick. We were going to run some MT63-1000L on 80 meters, but

I failed to have time to try it.

We'll be holding the interoperability net again Tuesday evening around

3.570, or so +/- QRM

I splurged and spent my cigarette money and purchased a B square

terminating dipole antenna and it arrived today. Since I don't smoke, I

manage to use that account for an excuse to purchase some toys.

2) We are planning to move down a bit for the net. Try looking in the

3.570 to 3.577 area for us depending on QRM. You can't miss the

distinctive waterfall pattern of MT63-1000L.

We will in the future possibly experiment with some other modes. One we

want to test out is OLIVIA, and after we get a good group on the net, we

may try OLIVIA and some other modes. But for now, we'll sign in using the

MT63-1000L mode.

As for the terminated dipole antenna, not sure when I can get it up. I

have nesting OSPREY'S on my tower, and they get real ugly when someone

starts climbing the tower. A neighbor bought a drone a couple years back,

and was atempting to video the nest, and the OSPREY'S attacked the drone

and took it down. I may have to wait till they leave to head south for the

winter. They normally leave around Labor Day Weekend.

It's hard to believe that summer has arrived, and the sun is now slowing

going down in the daylight hours for winter.

N3FIX

1) I've been busy. It has been a few weeks since I was able to join in.
The tasks are plentiful, and none of them involve radio.

Sorry to hear about Daryl's fall.

Gene, that MT63 has some great forward error correction (FEC). It's none

too fast, but it gets the job done with lots of noise.

This wekeend was our open house at the senior center. We had table set up

for all kinds of different aspects of the hobby. The station was open for

all to tour. It was just an idea a year ago, now it is reality. Any

authorized ham can come to the center and operate the station. It's VHF

all mode, UHF/VHF FM, and all HF, except 160 meters. The guys are very

proud of their accomplishment, and the open house yieleded at least 5

people who were very interested in the hobby. A few inactive hams, and

some new people. It was worth all the effort to put on the event.

So watch for the KC3LGV group station on the air September House Senior

Center in York, Pennsylvania.

2) All I can say is that those bird attacks can be nasty. I remember when

my grandson wanted a closer look at that hummingbird net. That got ugly.

VA7RBP

1) Weather here has been cloudy. 60's rain off and on, and the river

beside me is holding steady...so far.

Gene, no problem with meeting up, please confirm 3570 for the

interoperability net, although I wasn't able to pick it up (weak antenna).

I sorta caught it on a Philly web SDR.

I replaced the RG-58 coax to my 20/40/80 meter mini dipole with RG-8,

maybe??

Not a lot accomplished this week. Spent most of the time on FT-8 20

meters, and today, I went up to 10 meters, and had a flurry of activity.

No international action, though, but nice to see something on the upper HF

band.

2) I'm looking forward to making another attempt at MT63-1000L on 3570++

tomorrow night. We'll see what happens. Hello to Jim, VE7TCP.

KF5JRV

Missed Round 1

2) Coming through the HEMET packet switch tonight. I had a server problem,

and HEMET was the first node to connect via AXIP.

We spent the weekend automating the garden watering. We found some

oscillating sprinklers that were adjustable, so we just water the garden

area. This will save Jackie about 30 minutes a day. We are looking at a

sprinkler controller that is wifi, that actually reads the weather from

the internet and waters accordingly. Very 21st century.
