Commentary:

WX4QZ:

1) My Mom had to be ambulatory to a local hospital
this morning, due to a worsening infection. They are
keeping her overnight, but if it gets worse, she'll
be there longer. However, her blood pressure was
dropping, so it may not be much longer before she
dies. At least her funeral and my funeral are
pre-arranged, and I set up a cremation only deal for
my brother, who didn't pre-arrange. I still may have
to deal with a double funeral, but at least the costs
are taken care of.

Major to Record flooding on the Arkansas River, even
at Little Rock, but I'm far enough away, where it's
not an issue. But, we have a threat of thunderstorms
and severe weather Tuesday night through Thursday.

I booked the Amtrak Train Trip to the Duke City Hamfest
in Albuquerque in September. Plan to do a forum there,
help with VE Testing, and go through the Wouff Hong
again. That will be my last big travel outside Arkansas.
It will be good to get away for about 9 days.

Doing VE Testing locally the next 2 Saturdays. I'm
hoping the weather cooperates, and we get lots of new
hams and upgrades.

The QCWA Net, Trains Net, and Food Net, have had
increased checkins since moving to the QuadNet Array;
I'm very happy with that.

Went to Chick-Fil-A for lunch, and got their peach
milk shake, only available in the summer.

Getting back into square dancing with a local club.
Need the exercise.

Getting a low-T implant Wednesday...a literal PITA.

2) Bob, did you process the logon for a ham in Tennessee
named Jimmy? I forget his callsign offhand.

Not much else. Will crash out shortly, but send you the
scribe.

VA7RBP, Rick:

1) Another good week. Spent most of the time on 20
meters, the R5 has been performing very nicely. 20
watts, and I've been seeing contacts pretty much
everywhere.

Unfortunately, Gene, I wasn't able to get anywhere
near the NET on 80 meters, again. Thought I saw an
MT63 signal in the vicinity of 3570+- on the Philly
web SDR, but couldn't decode it. Going to have to
watch for good deals on 80/40 antennas that might
be better than my hamsticks.

I have also been putting mag loop antenna together.
Have been waiting for a price on butterfly cap from
VE3UK, which came through today $240, and it's good
for 100 watts...but, I don't have the cash at the
moment, so....

2) Thanks for the node info, Gene. I'll continue
trying to get to the net tomorrow.

N9LCF, Gene:

1) It has been another rainy week. Still not much
planting in the area. In fact, not much has been
planted in the entire state due to rain.

We are under a Tornado Watch now until 10pm. So things
may get exciting later this evening.

Rick, for the interoperatblity net on Tuesday. This
week, they are going to try MT63-500L mode for a
narrower band width, and slower speed for us that
type slow.

I did receive the terminated dipole antenna that I
had on order. It's a lot of money, but commercial
rated. It's an all band antenna covering 160 through
10 meters with no tuner needed. It will probably be
after Labor Day before I can get it online. Have to
wait until the Ospresy's nesting on my tower to leave
and go South. They get real ugly when you try to
climb the tower now.

My week consisted of just luckily getting the lawn
mowed between rain showers.

Tonight is my last beer night for a few weeks, since
I go in for surgery for hip replacement on Wednesday.
My packet station will also be down for a few days
until I can climb the stairs to turn things back on.

2) Rick, they were working the net last week in the
3.577.5 area, I think they will be in the same area
again this week.

I'm now hearing thunder in the distance, so it won't
be long till I secure the station, and pull my head
into my shell. Looks like the front is between me
and South Bend at this time, and shows quite strong.
I just received word that KC8KPM, one of my forwarding
partners is coming over to help me deplete my beer
supply.

I have a good excuse tonight, as I have to crowd
liquids till tomorrow evening. :)
