Motorola, "Today, it's best known for making cellular phones." in Japan like
most consumer electronics today. Military and commercial are a horse of
another color, hams who operate VHF and UHF know Motorola quality and
modified their transceivers for 2M and 70cM, today it's a simple matter of
programming. There's one on a ham related web forum with the screen name
Motorola Otaku, Japanese for fanatic, appropriate for Motorola cell phones
made in Japan I suppose. (;->) In the cops vs. hotrodders road wars cops have
had this saying for ages; "You may outrun my car but you can't outrun my
Motorola."
Oh, speaking of consumer elecronics, back in the days of tubes I not only had
several Motorola radios, but a nice 19" color TV as well all good stuff. For
those born too late, those tube TVs with power transformers, CRTs, steel
shassis and steel cabinets were a challenge to lift and carry. TV repairmen
such as myself had muscles, if you remember TV repairmen you're an old fart
like me. (;->)
"New Jersey, the most American of all states. It has everything from
wilderness to the Mafia. All the great things and all the worst,
like Route 22."
