WX4QZ:

Rain is forecast here overnight, then
maybe an inch of snow tomorrow. The
panic for the bread, milk, beer, and
toilet paper, has started (hi hi); but
I doubt we'll see much more than an inch,
if even that...but elevated roads could
be icy Wednesday morning.

My T-Mobile smartphone was running out of
space (every time you turn around, Google
Play is updating programs), so I switched
the LG Aristo 4+ to a Samsung Galaxy A10.
With its internal memory and SD card, I
shouldn't run out of space anytime soon,
but I don't even have 15 pictures in the
phone.

Rodents are still trapped in here. I'm
supposed to get a call by tomorrow to schedule
a follow-up. The rats are avoiding the traps,
and the weed killer I sprayed on the ivy
didn't seem to do much good. Until I am
totally rid of the rats, my life will be
anything but normal...and Christmas won't
be Merry. At least there is a 6 year warranty
until 2025 on it...for what I paid, there
better be that kind of protection.

I got license exams set up in one location,
but the big exam room was already booked; so,
I had to take the small room, with a max of 5
examinees and VE's, but it was better to test
a small session than not at all. Another area
test site may be closing, so I'm working on
getting a replacement site. At least the rental
fee is covered as a reimburseable expense. The
new Extra Class Pool should be out by Feb. 1, to
take effect on July 1, probably after several
revisions.

I saw where there may soon be a shortage of
French Fries, potato chips, etc., due to
rains and a poor potato harvest. Guess I'll
have to switch to onion rings. One ham and
his wife have one of these Instant Pot electric
pressure cookers. He told of a recipe to soak
pork chops in Coca-Cola for 2-3 hours, then
dump the whole deal into the Instant Pot for
25 to 30 minutes. He said it was the best pork
chops he had ever had.

Noted an error in the nets list file (selected
Echolink, D-Star, and D-Rats Nets, with links
to DMR, CQ100, HamSphere, and D-Star HF Nets).
Will have to send out a correction file later
this evening.

I use Notepad in Windows to prepare the scribe,
and copy and paste the info to/from the iptelnet
program with Outpost. Makes it easier. I'm running
Windows 10 64-bit on a Lenovo laptop, until I can
get my regular setup going again, which may not be
until April, with my luck of late. Thank you, Bob,
for providing the BBS for the net, and for me to
have a presence on packet.

I may have to switch from a cane to a walker. The
left knee is getting real bad, but I'd rather
delay surgery as long as possible. I'm going to
get a cardiac cath done early next year, to be
sure there's no blockage.

I had the swivel chair shrink to the floor on me
so much that I switched to one that stays the same,
plus I don't have to worry about leaning back, and
it tipping over.

The EzPacket program has a split window, but
only works with comports 1 and 2. However, it
requires RF, and doesn't work with telnet.

I've watched the LaPlata, Missouri Live Rail
Cam on YouTube, mainly when Amtrak comes
through in the early evening, and at
mid-morning...if he's on time.

K3CHB:

I'm going to try to copy and paste, like Daryl
did. So this FTelnet is rough, but looks good,
can not paste from notepad.

This week I decided to try and set up a JNOS
system. So far, it is operational, and linked
to my LinBPQ, and set up with a TNC-X, but no
radio yet.

At home, I run Linux on a pi, and I found a mud
client in the repos. I believe it was called
kildterm. Has a text input window, and works
fairly well for telnet to my LinBPQ node.

Here at work, the only way I was able to get
access at work is with FTelnet, and a very simple
webpage on my home network.

VA7RBP:

Still got that crappy chest cold...maybe by
Christmas. Not a lot of exciting stuff this
past week, as I have been strapped in this
chair the whole time.

Following a semi-rigid schedule of JS8, ARDOP
PACTOR on 40M, 30M and 20M. Lots of noise and
static to lull me to sleep in that same chair,
I hate it when the wheels fall off the chair.

Today I re-aligned two AEA PK-232MBX units
again, one starts to drift when it gets warm.

Well, like I said...exciting.

Yeah, I'd like a power recliner/massage chair
for the shack...maybe when I win a lottery...

N9LCF:

Last week I simply forgot the net, and when
I realized that it was Monday, the net was
over.

This last week was interesting. The renter
that farms the land here came in with a huge
combine on tracks to harvest the soybeans. I
did not figure the crop could be harvested
until the ground froze, and would handle the
heavy weight of the combine. I rode for awhile
and the combine on tracks went through standing
water in the field, and did not even cut into
the clay. I saw something about the new
machinery that I would not have believed, had
I not seen it myself.

We have 4 new packet BBS's in various stages
of getting online. One is now online, and
another sysop informed me on last nights
packet chat that he needed to wire one
connector for his TNC, and he would be ready
to go online. The other 2 are still obtaining
the equipment needed. I hope to see all 4
online by the end of the year.

I spent a lot of my time this week hooked on
the YouTube Train Live Cams and now on the
Port Huron Ship harbor Cams. Makes time pass
very fast.

I do already have 2 days this week with
appointments scheduled. One is to the county
EOC for an afternoon of training on how to
use the BBS for EOC messages and how to use
all the features of the node, chat, and BBS
can do. I hope to even get some interest from
the folks there to have more of the group get
licensed. The chat at the EOC is hooked up to
the worldwide BPQ chat. W9ECG-11
