My car that was in a multi-vehicle wreck
on Jan. 7, was totaled out a week later.
I finally found the title for it in the
glove box (it's better in a safe deposit
box), and sent it to Allstate, and should
get nearly $5300 back for the 2004 Buick
LeSabre, once they get the title and other
pertinent documentation. The settlement
from Geico likely won't be offered until
the chiropractic care is done. I'm 52%
recovered, but still have a ways to go.
Considering how much money attorneys can
devour, I may just take the money and run,
especially if I end up ahead financially.
I am now driving a 2009 Volvo 2 door
hardtop convertible. I'll pay a little more
in insurance, gas, and taxes, but at least
I have some transportation now.
They've lowered the rain chances until late
in the week, when some of the rain could be
heavy...then a threat of possible tornadoes
arrives early next week. No sign of snow or
ice for central Arkansas right now.
Bob, doing a copy and paste is a lot easier
for me. I also log the entire net to a
textfile for the scribe, which I will do
sometime on Tuesday. At times, the iptelnet
client has crashed on me in the middle of
the net, and I miss stuff...and that's what
just happened...I guess I jinxed myself.
I won't get my COVID-19 shot for awhile. I
turn 61 in March, but I'm still a puppy...yet,
I am weaned (hi hi).
Jackie has the biggest green thumb I've ever
seen. Hope she does well with her gardening.
Saw a couple of food recalls...the Hot Pockets
Pepperoni Pizza, and some ice cream from China
was contaminated with COVID-19. Nothing is safe
anymore (sigh!).
I used MixW and DigiPan for PSK31 awhile back
on CQ100. But, I haven't done that mode in a
long time.
Bob, K.O. would be proud of you for your APRS
antenna. :)
I know Charley's frustrated with the battery
issues. I'm using the Verizon Mi-Fi, with the
Xfinity as a backup. I normally use Xfinity, but
sometimes, it has quit on me unexpectedly...even
during nets.
I bought some lunch meat and bread for sandwiches
(no cooking needed) along with a bunch of flavored
water. Little Debbie has the valentine chocolate
brownies out now; that's for my sweet tooth. I saw
it's also apparently time for Girl Scout cookies.
We will now pause 3 minutes for drooling (hi hi).
Everyone have a good week. I'll be Net Control next
week.

Had a beautiful morning here today. Hi in 60s, but
will be 10 degrees cooler tomorrow. Roller coaster
for the next 10 days.
Daryl, sorry to hear about the car wreck! Wow, but
sounds like you are making a good comeback.
I get first covid vaccing shot this Thursday, so
happy about that. Oklahoma has been slow to get
started, but I think they are starting to get in
the groove now.
I've been in retro mode last few days - revisited
SSTV using a program called Yoniq, which is an
update to mmsstv. This is geared for win 10, but
the structure is like the old mmsstv, so straght
forward if you used the old one.
Bob, mentioned K.O., I have a few mementos (tools,
HP oscillator, etc.) of his. Thanks to Charley, NT5R,
letting me know of the sale after his passing. Sorry
I never got to have an eyeball QSO.
Speaking of old computers, saw a video of a VERY small
PDP11 emulation. Google spritesmodes.com and pdp11 if
you're interested. Video at the end of that thread.

It was a busy weekend here, installed inverted V antenna
for 6 & 10 meters, then set my TS-2000 for FT-8. Other
than that, everyone is healthy and doing well.

It was a slow week, didn't do a heck of a lot, watched TV,
played on the radio. Our temps have been hovering around
32F, we've had a few days of snow, but it melts pretty
quick. A lot less snow than the last couple of years...
global warming??
I'm also going to have to try that Yoniq program, like you
Bob, I've been using MMSSTV for a few years.
We still don't know when we'll be getting the vaccine in
our area, maybe spring? So, we are just parked at home
for the duration.
I had an Osborne and learned machine language programming
on an MMD1 8080 based thingy...

Well, my beloved Browns tried to win that game yesterday,
but just not quite enough. I'm just happy to see them doing
well finally, and also that they didn't get blown out by
Kansas City.
Not too much going on here. Spent the weekend doing the ARRL
VHF contest. Tough work, VHF in the winter. The bands were a
dog throughout, but I reached the important goal - I had fun.
Can't complain about that.
Daryl, sorry to hear about the headache with the car and the
back and all of that. Keep those insurance company folks on
track, or they'll try and drag it out on you.

Jackie has went into gardening mode. Flower pots and grow lights.
Seed on damp paper towels. The growing season is here!
Been tinkering with a Z80 cpu runing CP/m.

Ok, talking about old computers. Just listening to Podcast named
Hacked, edition The Year Double Zero was talking about all the
old Cobol software written many years earlier they were worried
how react to year 2000 with only last two digits of year in code
Interesting stuff, remember that time, was not working in IT at
time but still much concern about what would happen.

Bob, our temp was half of yours today - but K.O. would have been proud
of me. I went out and replaced the VHF antenna my node uses for APRS.
Using K.O.'s logic - that antenna will work well and for a long time!!

Glad to hear you're on the list for a shot. I received and email from my
doctor that'll be getting a call to schedule my shot soon - but haven't
actually gotten the call yet.
Hmmm... I use MMSSTV, I'll grab Yoniq ...
I'm aging myself...I used to work on PDP11's!! I always lusted for a
Kaypro -- similar luggable form factor.
Glenn, New antennas are alway useful! Good to hear all are well.
Rick, even with the vaccine I think we're still going to be parked at home
for a while. I was just saying the same thing about our snow here - we're
way behind what we should've had by now.
Doug, Yeah, I was worried! I'm a KC fan having lived there for a chunk of
my life. But you're right - it's good to see the Browns being competitive,
and it looks like they may be for the next few years now!
Scott, I love Z80s and CP/M! I used to have a Northstar Horizon computer -
an old S100 slot computer. It was fun!!
Does Jackie ever stop gardening? She's industrious!
Charley, speaking of Y2K - I worked in a group at that time that validated
that our computers weren't going to freak out and die on the date switch.
For the most part it was an uneventful time even with all the paranoia.
The only oddity we encountered was old Sun computers running SunOS 3.5
(which was old even then)
When the made the switch from Dec 31, 1999 to Jan 1 they showed the year as
19100 - which made sense in a twisted kind of way!!
Had a Compaq portable, keyword there was Luggable, for sure.
