WX4QZ:
Well, I'm no longer on D-Star. The BlueDV program
crashed and burned big time yesterday. I tried to
do an uninstall and reinstall...and even an install
of an earlier version...no dice on either one. So,
all my D-Star Nets will likely go QRT. That leaves
only this net, and the QCWA CQ100 Net on Friday
morning for me. I still have D-Rats, but will use
it, Echolink, and Winlink Express very sparingly.
I can't afford a new rig, hotspot, ThumbDV, etc.
Plus, I likely won't checkin to any of the other
nets during the week. I did NOT want to have to
make this choice...and I did NOT make any software
changes, installs, upgrades, etc. between Saturday
evening and Sunday afternoon. So, I feel Microsoft
is to blame. Other hams have confirmed the same
thing happening on multiple computers. If anyone
has a ThumbDV for D-Star, and knows of a program
besides BlueDV that'd work with it, please send an
email to wx4qz at arrl dot net -- I'd appreciate it.
If it's freeware, I'm definitely interested...as I'm
a frugal cheapskate (hi hi).
I thought that UPS (better known as OOPS!!), lost
the 2 replacement heart monitor patches and a
scrub pad I had ordered last week. Without the
patches, the sensor for the heart monitor was
worthless (it ran out early Saturday morning). It
turns out that UPS delivered it on Friday to the
Post Office Box, but the Post Office didn't feel
like processing it until this morning. I called the
Heart Clinic, and they said I could bring the stuff
to them, and they would ship it back. The medication,
and my giving up of all caffeine and chocolate (which
sucks), has stabilized the heart rate and blood pressure,
but my migraines are back. I still may need ablation
surgery, or a cardiac cath. I've gotten so if I can't
get an item locally, I'm going to do without it.
The remnants of Tropical Cyclone Nicholas will affect
portions of my region later this week...we could use
the rain, but not flooding, strong winds, or tornadoes.
We're just past the peak of the hurricane season. It
does look like the worst of it will stay south of
Arkansas. Wildfire Danger is Moderate statewide.
I'm so stressed out and depressed right now, that I
can't think of much else.
Bob, with my luck, I'd be "fighting the cat in the
sandbox" (hi hi) or nude in the shower when they
showed up (they just drop the package off, and leave,
and porch pirates steal it). With it being shipped to
the Postal Facility, I can get it from the Post Office
Box the next day or so...no sitting here all day
waiting for them to show up.
On the BlueDV, I'm not optimistic. I wanted a break
in the hobby, but not this way.
Fine business on the patriotic Corvette deal...I'll
have to look that up.
Rick, you're not the only one "falling asleep at the
switch". If you're tired, take the night off.
Fine business on the new repeater. It has been very
smokey and hazy here, from the wildfires.
It's always something with expenses...transportation
or otherwise.
Brent, glad to have you with us...your daughter will
be graduating soon...they grow up so fast!! We're here
every Monday, except during a holiday week. Our next
holiday week is Thanksgiving, and it's only 100 days
until Christmas!!
As a note, the >>> are what's known as chicken lips.
When this net started on the now former N0KFQ BBS in
Branson, PCL stood for patience (packet can be slow),
and chicken lips...what we send when we're done with
our transmission. Hope you can come back again next
week!!

NS2B:
Shipping in general lately, UPS, USPS, Fedex, whoever
seems to be a mess. Nothing travels as fast as it used
to - and what's the deal with all of them delivering
things to the post office for delivery? When did that
happen? Ah well - brave new world.
Hopefully your BlueDV gets fixed in the not too distant
future. I don't talk much on D-Star or DMR, but if my
hotspots were to die I'd feel "left out"!!
Saturday, took the Corvette over to 9-11 Memorial
ceremony. We took a bunch of red, white, and blue
Corvettes and made an American Flag. If you look up
John Kucko Digital on the internet you'll find a pic
labeled "America The Beautiful"
That's us - I'm the 4th from the right in the top red
row. The bottom 2 rows didn't come out very straight.
Welcome aboard to Brent. Falls coming, and I'd like to
think we'll pick up a little more activity here.
Thanks for doing the net, Daryl...73.

VA7RBP:
Good Evening Daryl and all on the net, good to see you
back on here.
Not only are shipping outfits getting dicey, their
rates are skyrocketing.
It was another week of doing not much, other than parking
in the shack and nodding off with hand on the dial.
Our club installed a new repeater at 7280 ft ASL on a
mountain top last week, opening up radio access to some
isolated campgrounds and communities...(sounds better
the other way around).
Harvesting some more tomatoes as the weather cools off.
We had some more rain to help clean the smoke out of the
air.
Today I had to take the Honda in to get the timing chain
tensioner and one of the rear wheel bearings replaced, and
a four wheel alignment as well. It has been an expensive
couple of months due to car repairs...
I call a NOON-TIME net daily on 2M and another 2M FM net on
Monday evenings, and I've noticed the drop off in check-in
numbers over the summer. Hopefully thing will pick up, as you
say... also noticed a jump in check-ins this week when we got
the new repeater in.
Thanks for doing the net Daryl, and thanks Bob for hosting
the net, and 73.

WG0A:
GE all. Thanks. I saw a bull about the net earlier and
thought I'd drop by.
I started back in packet earlier this year, and bpq has
given me plenty of things to mess with. The last week
has been busy with the school year starting for my
youngest. She started 10th grade.
Good to know on the chicken lips. Thanks for the info.
Just wanted to thank everyone for the welcome. It was
great meet everyone tonight. I've got this on my calendar
so I'll catch you again. Also, hope to see you all soon
on the air. Thanks all. Have a great week. 73.
