WX4QZ:
GE to all on the net.
Weather has been beautiful since a strong cold
front moved through on Friday...some tornado
warnings in the region, and an EF-0 tornado
just missed the Little Rock Air Force Base.
We could use some rain.
I go to the eye doctor in the morning...I may
have glaucoma. Night driving has been very
difficult, and I may have to give up driving
and sell the car. It'd help financially, but
I'd have to take Uber everywhere, and get
stuff delivered...but I'd be stuck at home 6
days a week...as I hate to impose on anyone
else.
I had to go to the ER last week with bladder
and bowel issues. I've got epididymitis and a
UTI, and rectal spasms. They didn't give any
medicine for the latter...talk about a pain
in the posterior (hi hi). Finances are tighter
than a frog's butt underwater...not sure when
I can get a colonoscopy and an EGD, although
I'm overdue for both.
I could only do 2 minutes of a treadmill stress
test, due to severe arthritis in my hips and legs.
I don't take big steps anymore. Plus, I had to
park at the far end of the parking lot (all the
close spaces were filled), and walk down with my
walker.
I'm doing a license exam session Saturday...got
3 going for Technician, and 1 for General. I'm
not sure if I'll test anymore in 2021.
The hamdata.com website crashed last week. It was
a quick source of the latest issued US and Canada
ham radio callsigns.
I'm riding Brightline (vicariously) from Miami
to West Palm Beach during the net. That'll be
the only train ride I get anymore (YouTube).

NS2B:
GE All!!
The weekend was horrid - I had a data center upgrade
to work on - the new software killed the system -
spent the rest of the weekend restoring it to
pre-upgrade state. It's ok now, but made a mess of
a perfectly good weekend.
The weather is has finally started cooling off - we
only made low 50s today - it's back into the 40s -
tomorrow and wednesday supposed to be a little nicer -
and then colder still after that. So I guess Wednesday
I'll put the Corvette on the trickle charger and throw
the cover on.
In radio news I bought myself a Motoral XTS1500 P25
radio. I've had P25 radios before, but got away from
them for a while. Figured time to try it again. Got it
all programmed up and working with a hotspot, so that's
all good.
And that's about it for me. BTU Daryl >>>
Hey Bob TVG - I have the earlier version of that radio.
I love it. Does DMR, APRS tracking, and has amazing
battery life. I don't have bluetooth though.
Nothing else Daryl, everyone have a good week, 73! >>>

VA7RBP:
Good Evening Daryl and all on the net.
Another week of not doing a heck of a lot.
Last week Monday was our Thanksgiving, had a great
dinner at our Daughter's on the Sunday, and another
dinner with friends on the Monday night.
I received the stainless steel 3/8 x 24 threaded
rod that I had ordered, cut new antenna mounting
screws and installed them.
Hopefully I won't ever have to deal with corrosion
between the antennas and mounts.
Lots of playing on the radio with VARA CHAT and a
new client program called VarAC that adds a few
bells and whistles.
Our temps have been dropping here too, it got down to
-3C / 27F one night last week, and we had our first
snowfall warning for the high passes.
We could see patches of snow on the hillside,
fortunately, we had a few sunny days in the 50's
and the white stuff melted away...but it will be back.
Sorry I'm typing slow...the wife keeps asking me question...
Well, that's about all I have, so BTU Daryl >>>
Ouch, I think I bit my lip trying to pronounce the name
of that net....got the XYL chuckling...
Re VARA, I see lots of reports for groups out east playing
with Winlink P2P VARA, so there should be lots of folks
to practice with and learn from.
OK that's all I have for tonight, Everyone have a great
week, 73 until next time. BTU Daryl >>>

NT5R:
GE everyone.
Daryl, please take care of yourself, we need you.
Bob the P25 has serveral local access points Springfield/Nixa
area.
Rick, the VARA mode need to learn more about.
Local fellow NY0J, may get on here eventually, inquired about
packet recently
Busy week for me, on the road last week business in Texas,
made the rounds
Visited son in OklahomA on way there, visited ham buddy
WB5IZL while there and visited former coworker and ham in
arkansas on return. It was a fun trip.
Local node not heard recently KCM, club did some antenna work
week ago Saturday. May have disconnected something or ??
Need to check on it.
48 f here this morning, one good thing about cooler weather
fewer bugs and snakes while hiking
So btu Daryl>>>
Had to step away for a bit.
Looks like good net tonite,
Did apply for Winlink password while back but not returned
so guess need try again
Have an awesome week everyone 73>>>

KF5TVG:
GE Daryl and all!
So sorry to hear the continued health issues you have to deal
with. Not sure I could do it. Hope things start to get better
for you soon!
Have been in Norman, OK, near Oklahoma City for the last month.
Had to spend some time in the storm shelter last Sunday night.
Don't have many tornadoes in October, so don't have to do that
very often this time of year. No damage in the immediate area,
but a friends daughter had her car totaled from hail damage that
night. She was about 8 miles from us, so thankful it didn't hit
here.
Have been saving up to buy a new DMR radio, and got one this
week with a very long name, so it must be good!
It's an AnyTone 878UV Mark II Plus. How's that for a name???
It is far superior to my old TYT MD-380, but I'm still learning
all it's quirks. The setup software is clumsy, since it has
settings for non-ham radios in the mix. And Chinese programmers
seem to completely miss the workflow for a user interface. The
hardware appears to be OK so far.
It's dual band and has APRS, while the MD-380 was just UHF.
There is an Oklahoma state-wide DMR net later tonight, that
I may try it on. I usually miss that net, because I'm on a
local FM repeater net at the same time in Broken Arrow.
That's all for now, back to you Daryl>>>
Winlink was mentioned here tonight. Learned about Winlink Wednesday
a few weeks ago. Google it if interested, but another way
to practice and do radio checks.
That's all for tonight. 73 and hope everyone has a great week! >>>

KF5JRV:
Don't know what happened. Jackie and I are doing well.
The weather is much more pleasant. The storms passed about
20 miles south of us.
My Icom R75 has devopled a thermal problem with the
audio/detector. When cold the audio is dead. A heat
gun brings it back. Probably a ceramic filter.
That is it for now. Back to you Dayrl >>>
Jackie didn't enter the fair this year. With the covid
it was up in the air earlier
Hope everyone has a good week BTU >>>

Replies From WX4QZ:
Bob, that sucks on the data loss. The reinstall of
Windows 10 to rebuild the registry helped. The
laptop (where I have my ham radio applications)
will get the upgrade to windows 11 (I'm not in a
rush for it), but the Desktop will not, as it's
only 32-bit.
I had to get a square dance publication out last night.
There were over 175 pictures, so I had to create 3
separate PDF files.
**
Rick, fine business on Thanksgiving and family time,
the antennas, and new programs.
They're not calling for much snow and ice here, but
maybe an early tornado season with La Nina.
No problem on getting asked questions...can't neglect
the XYL. :)
I have to do the Hotspot Raspberry Pi SBC and Zumspot
Net later this evening, so I may not get the scribe
posted until sometime Tuesday afternoon.
**
Charley, fine business on the new prospective packet
user. The more, the merrier.
Glad you had a good trip in the region (Arkansas,
Oklahoma, and Texas). Good luck on getting that node
working.
I saw a wasp or dauber on the metal frame around the
house. I wish it'd get cold enough to drive them away.
**
Bob, some days I just want to cry continuously, as
I have to go through this crap alone.
At least I had a pretty young black nurse taking care
of me, and looking me over. it was so cold in that ER
room that my kidneys and bladder went into overdrive.
She gave me 2 shots in each hip...I think she used
barbed wire needles. But, I know nudity means nothing
to them.
I am long overdue for something good to happen to me.
I saw the bad weather in Oklahoma...I think there was
a tornado around Norman and another north of Tulsa.
Roger on the hail reports.
I think of the DMR meme, where the ham is holding up
the cardboard sign, saying "Not Homeless. Need Help
With DMR. Please Help" (hi hi).
Too many nets...too little time (sigh!).
**
Scott, glad you and Jackie are OK.
With her not entering the fair, that means more food
for you.
Good luck on fixing the problem with that rig.
**
