WX4QZ:
Final PCL Net of 2021 tonight, due to the holidays;
next net on Jan. 3. Happy Holidays to all.
My area escaped damage from the tornadic storms
Friday night, but other areas were not as fortunate.
The strongest damage I've seen is a strong EF-3.
Unsettled and possible winter weather in the forecast
here for later this week into next week.
My night vision is no longer fogged, but I don't plan
to do any night driving until Jan. 1 for a square
dance locally. I have enough credits built up to get
50 cents a gallon off of gas the next time I fill up;
but my driving will be limited.
I went to an area jeweler to get copy for an ad for the
square dance publication I have to release on Wednesday.
I'm glad I'm not shopping for any rings or jewelery...
prices start at $300...that's as painful and costly as
a colonoscopy prep (hi hi).
I had to fight with T-Mobile earlier today...I had
cancelled the service 5 weeks ago. The shipper apparently
lost the phone, but I got out of paying the fee. Their
last few customer service folks acted like they did not
want me there...the feeling is mutual now. No one seems
to care about customers anymore.
Monday is a horrible way to spend 1/7 of your week...so I
hope everyone else is doing better.
To both Bobs...I'd rather get the shots in the hip, so
I can moon the nurses (hi hi), but (or is that butt??!!)
(hi hi), they've seen it all before. The bursitis in both
of my shoulders is so bad, that it's painful enough to sleep
on them at times without an injection adding to it. It's
not so bad with the hips.
To Bob (NY), I'm overdue for a good Monday, and several
other days as well.
To Bob (OK), I brought the topic of the rpitx up on the
HotSpot Raspberry Pi SBC and ZumSpot Net on the QuadNet
Array tonight...didn't have any takers on it.
To Charley, fine business on the travels for family and
friends...enjoy that time together. Thanks for the word
from Jon, K5DVT...tell him we said "hi".
To Rick, glad your weather has eased up a bit. For awhile,
it seemed the weather (rain and snow) was just stuck in
place.

NS2B:
GE All!
I've never heard it described that way, but your Monday's
do suck!
We're having uncommonly warm weather up here. Was near 50
today. Similar tomorrow - 60s on Thursday! Not complaining.
The storms that stretched accross the country just brought
us high winds. So I have yard full of twigs and tree limbs
to clean up. The pickup is all loaded ready to head to the
dump.
Not much new on the radio front. Spent some time today
monitoring 10M to see if anything was happening on FT8 -
didn't catch anybody there. So dropped down to the Boston
WX FAX frequencies and copied some WX FAX for a while. I
know nobody really uses that stuff anymore - it's all done
via websites and satellite internet now. But still fun to do.
Daryl, you sound more like a pin cushion! hihi
Bob - the answer to "I need this for..." is "Because I can!"
Safe travels Charley.
Good luck on the RF Rick.
Thanks for scribing and taking net control Daryl, I appreciate it.
Speaking of Covid - NYS started mandatory masking in public places
again today. I hope that's as bad as it gets.
Everyone have a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and whatever
other holidays you celebrate!
73 to all, see you next year! BTU Daryl >>>

NT5R:
GE everyone. Happy to catch last net of year.
Hanging out with nephew in Carrolton GA this week. College town
and couple Fusion repeaters here. So, brought FT70 for play and
games.
Took scenic route thru north Texas (visiting friends and family
on way). Rain from storm caught up with me just west of Monroe,
LA. Drove remainder of way constant rain (heavy at times). Did
miss any severe weather along way, and saw no flooding.
Thoughts go out to those in path of tornado.
Girl friend said they had tornado warning just west of Branson
(Kimberling City MO) that night. Some damage, but not heard of
any injuries.
Oh, talked to Jon, K5DVT, on Green Forest, AR one day, remembered
this net and said to tell everyone "hi".
Daryl, you could start a fashion design on your arm (or wherever
they put those needles) from all those shots.
Got my Johnson and Johnson booster about week ago. Only right leg
hurt about 10 minutes and runny nose couple hours this time.
Original J and J last April had chills and shakes during the night.
Guess the reaction means vaccination is working.
Wishing everyone a safe and happy and awesome Christmas and New Year
and all in between.
Type at you all in 22
73 >>>

KF5TVG:
GE Daryl and all the friends here on the net!
In Branson for a few days. Tornado sirens went off here Friday night,
but the storms moved out pretty quickly. No obvious damage nearby,
but the aftermath of the tornadoes across all the states to the East
of here has been sickening. I'm an Okie, and so have seen plenty of
tornado damage, but this was unbelievable.
Had winds blow off part of my gutters back in Broken Arrow, but was
able to get a guy out there with a tall ladder the next day, and got
it screwed back to the house.
Have been thinking about trying rpitx, which is a software package to
run on a raspberry pi. It toggles an output pin to transmit a signal
on the 2m ham band. With nothing attached to the pin, the range is
only 10cm, and with a short piece of wire maybe up to 100m. So definitely
a test tool, rather than something useful. Plus, the output is a square
wave, so lots of bad harmonics. Needs to have a filter between the RPi
and the antenna to be safe.
Just something to tinker with, don't know of anything I need it for...
In Branson for a fundraiser this Friday for a local outfit,
barnabasprep.org . They are a wonderful organization for young adults
with disabilities.
Then headed home for a few days, and then on the Norman, OK for
Christmas with kids and grandkids. Will be fun!
Many thanks to Bob and Daryl for the net activities this year.
Hope everyone has a great Christmas and 73.
BTU, Mr. Pin Cushion! >>>

VA7RBP:
Good Evening Daryl, and all on the net.
Awful to hear about all the tornado destruction.
We're still feeling the effects of the flooding, landslides, etc. here.
Highways to the coast are opening slowly, but it's essential travel
only, and transportation of goods.
Our Son-In-Law had to travel to the coast on business, and had to drive
down through Washington state to get there, and of course, deal with all
the paperwork, and testing requirement related to COVID.
We have had a few days of light snow. Temperature goes up and melts most
of it, then it snows some more. So far, no extreme weather in our area.
Not a lot of radio work accomplished this past week. I'm still waiting
for a couple of common mode chokes to arrive, hopefully they will help
get rid of the RF in the shack, the bands below 20M are most affected.
We are preparing for Christmas. We re-covered the dining room chairs.
Had the Granddaughters over for lunch on Sunday and they decorated the
Christmas tree. Today, Arlene and I went for our third Covid jab.
Ok, everyone have a great Christmas and New Years. Many thanks to Daryl
and Bob for the NET. 73 until next year! BTU Daryl >>>
