WX4QZ:
Good to see everyone again...we haven't chatted
since last year (hi hi). I saw a meme where a guy
said he'd order a pizza at 11:55pm on Dec. 31,
and when they delivered it, he'd growl "I ordered
this last year" (hi hi). I'm still having trouble
typing 2022.
We dodged the severe weather and winter weather
bullets here...areas north of Little Rock got
over 4 inches of rain Friday night, and areas
east of Little Rock picked up some snow over
the weekend, with heavier accumulations east
of the Mississippi River. It'll be cold much
of the week (after all, it's winter), with
chances for a wintry mix and rain, but
thunderstorms seem unlikely right now. Yet,
tornado season will return soon enough.
I got my 5.9% increase in disability this
morning, but I would rather it have been 59%.
Congress is intent on giving themselves raises.
I hope the majority of the greedy bums are
voted out come November, but what replaces
them may be far worse.
Had to make another ER trip early Wednesday
for an attack of gout in the left foot (I
could barely walk) and rectal issues (I
could barely sit). Getting old is not for
sissies. I don't have to get a full physical
and blood work until July, but I see the
cardiologist in late February, and I'm
overdue for a colonoscopy and an EGD...yet
funding precludes that right now. I'd have
to sell the car to afford them...but it'd
suck being stuck at home practically 24/7/365.
At least so far, I'm dodging Covid-19...it and
the flu are making an uptick. I saw a meme
that noted "I've absorbed so much hand
sanitizer, that when I pee, it cleans the
toilet" (hi hi). Going in for a much needed
toenail trim and foot check tomorrow afternoon.
I'm back on a bland diet of 2 turkey lunch meat
sandwiches (sliced very thin) twice a day, and
lemon Koolaid...not very nutritious...I might as
well go to just 1 sandwich twice a day, or to
just 1 meal and 1 sandwich a day. I do need to
lose weight, but I don't need to get sick.
Still no word from the FCC on when that $35 fee
is to kick in...they can take their sweet time
on it. I've said it before, but I have heard
several hams say they'll quit the hobby, rather
than pay the fee. Yet, many of these same hams
will pay $100 or more for prize tickets or a rig
at a hamfest, and not bat an eye.
Did some updating of square dance website files,
and items on the BBS...but mostly have been trying
to catch up on sleep. It was a like a war zone here
Friday night with the firecrackers, fireworks, and
gunfire. I wish they could ban the manufacture and
sale of those things...folks with PTSD, etc. risk
fatal heart attacks with the noise. But, these who
shoot them off would never put themselves in the
shoes of folks with PTSD.
Bob, I didn't see any videos from the Colorado fires,
but saw the stories. FB on the computer, and that's
funny about "HT lust"...although $700 for that ID-52
was too rich for my blood. The way folks were going
ape after it, made it like HT stood for "hairy
transmitter" (hi hi). One ham bought a comparable
mobile rig, with the same features, for $300 cheaper.
Rick, FB on having the family over for dinner. I saw
where wind chills in part of North Dakota were -60 --
I'm sure it was colder where you were.
Scott, condolences to your boss' family. I lost an
uncle to colon cancer, a grandmother to lung cancer,
and my Dad and his sister to pancreatic cancer. A
month from today marks 15 years since I lost my Dad...
hard to believe it has been that long.
On the garden, I'd wait until mid-March until I started
planting. I've seen snow as late as April 19 in Little
Rock twice in the last 45 years.
FB on having the kids there for the holidays.

NS2B:
GE All!
The holiday were pretty good. Ate too much which is our
solemn obligation at this time year. Got some nice
presents. Even bought myself a Christmas present - also
an obligation as you get older!
Weather here finally turned to Winter. Didn't have a
White Christmas - but managed to have a White New Year.
Did you see any of the footage from those winds and fires
out Colorado way? It was downright apocolyptic looking.
I saw a drone video of an entire neighborhood burned to
the ground - trees, grass, houses - everything down to the
ground. Scary stuff. Nothing like that to report and I'm
ok with that.
I bought myself a new computer - I haven't had one for a
few years; I figured it was time to get something that
could at least run Win10 even Win11 is the thing now it
appears.
I lusted after one of those ID-52A's for about 15 minutes.
I kept looking at my ID-80A and thought, "well this one
works just fine, but that one is shiney!" It went out of
stock at Main Trading Co. and I got it out of my system!
hihi
Sorry to hear about your boss, Scott.
Good to see everyone - everyone stay safe! 73 and BTU Daryl >>>

VA7RBP:
Good evening Daryl and all on the net. Hope you all had a
great Christmas, and wishing you all a Happy New Year.
We had an enjoyable Christmas, with our Daughter's family,
eight for dinner. Had leftover turkey for a couple of
dinners afterwards, and about a dozen portions of turkey
soup...yum!
It was also a white Christmas here, currently we have
about two and a half feet of snow, and it's still coming
down. We had about a foot last night, and I spent three
hours shoveling the driveway this morning.
New Years Eve was quiet as usual...didn't want to go
anywhere anyway, road are too slippery. Temps have been
around -15C/5F.
I've been doing a bit of HFP and Robust Packet on 20M
and 17M to keep myself busy.
Ditto on the FB re the new computer Bob. I bought a new
one last January, then Win 11 shows up and Windows
Update says "your computer doesn't have the right stuff
to run it"...figures.
Well, that's it for me. Everyone have a great week.
73 until next time. BTU Daryl >>>

.GE everyone on the net
It has been a rough December/ My boss passed away
Christmas Eve. He had colon cancer.
Jackie and I are doing well. Jackie ordered some garden
seed today. Surely planting season is not far away.
We had all of our kids here for Christmas eve. The weather
took a sudden plunge from 70 to 16.
Just wish everyone a good week. BTU >>>
