WX4QZ (Replies toward the bottom):
Next Monday, May 30, is Memorial Day, so the
PCL Net will NOT meet that night. Bob will
send out a reminder message later this week.
After tonight, the next PCL Net is June 6.
More severe weather in Arkansas both Saturday
afternoon and night, including 2 tornadoes.
They didn't do any damage, but were noted on
video. Lots of warnings for tornadoes, severe
thunderstorms and flash flooding...it looks to
repeat itself Tuesday into Thursday, with a
flood watch for southwest Arkansas. I'd rather
have soggy ground, than wildfires, such as in
Arizona, New Mexico, etc. Arkansas' Primary
Election is tomorrow, but I early voted. With
the forecast of storms, I'm glad I did. I'm so
sick of all the mudslinging...it'll get worse
as we head toward November.
I did a ham radio license exam on Saturday...
a single examinee passed his Technician, and
missed passing the General by 4...not bad for
not even looking at the material. I won't test
again until July 23, when the new Technician
Class Question Pools are out. I've got to get
help setting that Exam Tools program up. I like
printing my own exams, as each one is different,
and it cuts down on the potential of cheating.
I see the EP doctor on Wednesday, who'll do
the cardiac ablation surgery sometime in June...
not sure when it can be scheduled. I'll still
have the congestive heart failure and be on
Lasix...but I'll be glad to stabilize the
heartbeat.
The last heart/diabetic healthy food shipments
never arrived, so I'm gnawing the fence for
another 2 weeks. I'm hoping to get some low
sodium lunch meat at the store tomorrow. Each
single pack of the Buddig Lunch Meat has nearly
600 milligrams of sodium, but if I split it into
2 sandwiches, that cuts down the amount; although
if I keep the sodium to under 2000 milligrams a
day, that shouldn't cause too much of a problem.
The Buddig lunch meat slices are extremely thin,
though...but they're cheaper than the other lunch
meats. I still have 8 dinners, and 2 loaves of
wheat bread for sandwiches (along with mustard,
so they aren't so dry). I've lost 7 pounds in 2
days...but doubt that'll keep going. I have to
put another hole in my belt to keep my pants from
falling off my hips.
A ham wanted me to look at that HamLive program
for logging, but I've gotten used to, and am happy
with Netlogger. Plus, having only one monitor to
work with for the nets makes it difficult...I have
to do the D-Star Nets on a Windows 10 system, due
to soundcard issues with Windows 11, the BlueDV
program, and the ThumbDV (the McDonald's version
of D-Star, price wise). At least I can do the PCL
Net, and D-Rats on the Windows 11 laptop.
Speaking of McDonald's, a 2 year old toddler got
his Mom's cellphone, and using the McDonald's and
DoorDash app, ordered 31 cheeseburger Happy Meals.
With a tip for the driver, his Mom was out $91. Her
son only ate half a cheeseburger, so Mom donated
the rest to a few neighboring families. I have the
picture of the little rugrat and his burger banquet;
email me (my email is good on QRZ) if you want it...
the picture went viral on Facebook.
I heard of another toddler, whose Mom let him see
what she was doing on the computer with a Word
document. He typed in vulgar words, deleted the Word
file, plus as an important DLL file, and the computer
crashed big time. I can imagine what the repair bill
was.
A long time Arkansas radio DJ, Bob Robbins, passed
away on Saturday. He chaired up the US Marine Corps
Toys For Tots Toy Hill every Christmas in Little
Rock. He had been on the radio since 1967...he will
be sorely missed.
I saw where Covid-19 and Monkeypox are spiking...
just what we need, another plague.

Good evening all!
It was a good week. We had really nice weather.
Downright hot over the weekend. Back to the 60s
today.
I think if I had ordered $91 of Happy Meals my
mom would've been looking for a switch! But
that's the old days...
Haven't done any VE testing since before Covid -
not sure when we'll be doing another. I need to
get ahold of the team and see who is still around.
Saturday I flagged some Ferrari Challenge races
down at Watkins Glen - one of the races is at this
link on Youtube
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxQS_lOtnW8
If you go out to about 39 minutes, you'll see a car
backed into the wall and as the zoom out you can
see a flagman waving a yellow flag off to the left -
that's me. if you continue another 3 minutes or so
into the video the come around to me again...
Anyway, it was a good day of racing - just hot! No
breeze at all! Really weird for down there.
Monkeypox... that's all we need - something else to
worry about - I've heard that smallpox vaccination
is effective on it, so those of us that have been
immunized for that might be ok???
That could be propaganda too - who knows...
Like I said before the net - going to see Ringo Starr
May 30, so I wouldn't be here anyway! I listened to
an interview of him a few days ago, and I guess he
and Paul McCartney still collaborate occasionally,
and even show up at each others concerts - maybe
I'll get lucky! That'll be the closest I ever come
to seeing the Beatles!!

Ha! Caught you guys in the act!
It's raining here, so no tacos before the 8CDT local
net. Glad I was able to check in and see how you guys
are doing.
Daryl, hang in there with your weight/health issues.
I really need to lose the weight I picked up thru
COVID...
Bob, I'm jealous of your bird's eye view of racing.
Thx for the link. I'll try to take a look tonight.
I've been getting ready for FD by loading a new
version of s/w needed for digital stuff. Last year,
I used in image called HamPi, this year I'm trying
an installation package called Build-a-Pi. BAP is
by KM4ACK, and lets you pick and choose what you
want to load on a RPi. If you pick everything, it
can take over 4 hours to load the first time.
Our local informal group, KT5DIG, for Tulsa Digital
has ranked 1st the last 2 years in class 3A qrp
battery. We only have 3 xmitters going at any one
time, but have 10-13 or so hams wander thru and get
on the air for awhile. It's a lot of fun!
Went to the dr office today. XYL having foot issue,
but while there I asked about monkeypox. He didn't
seem too worried about it. We'll see, I guess.
Would have loved to see the Beatles back in the day!

Bob (NY) -- not sure about the shots...but, can we
have your autograph as the flagman?? (hi hi).
I'm lucky to eat just 4 cheeseburgers at a shot...but
I have to watch the sodium.
Bob (OK) -- FB on the RPi deal...I'll try to mention
that on the Hotspot RPi SBC ZumSpot Net I have to do
later tonight. Hard to believe FD is only a month away.
Be sure to eat some tacos for both of us (hi hi).
