WX4QZ (Replies toward the bottom):
The PCL Net will meet next Monday, June 27, but
will take the night of July 4 OFF...and return
on July 11. I hope we get some rain soon, or it
will be ripe for wildfires from errant sparks
from the fireworks. It doesn't matter if it's
against the law to shoot them off in the city;
folks still do it. And, if they find out you
reported them, they'll vandalize your property,
and kill you. These selfish folks have no feeling
or compassion for folks with PTSD, and stressed
out pets...I hope they get their comeuppance
sooner more than later.
Due to medical and financial issues, I've made the
agonizing decision to sell my car, as it's unsafe
for me to drive anymore -- between gout, cervical
splondyosis, degenerative disk disease, suspect
glaucoma/vision issues, and muscle spasms (I had
already given up driving after sunset). So, I'll
be taking Lyft out maybe once every 2 weeks to the
Post Office Box...and getting both my groceries and
medications delivered, but otherwise, I'm homebound
the rest of my life. I hope the folks at Medicare
are happy now, as I do now qualify for home health
care. I will keep the enhanced ID drivers license,
but at least there won't be any more worries of gas
prices, flat tires, car repairs, car insurance,
wrecks, etc.; but it also means no more independence.
I just hope the house insurance won't spike, with my
losing the multi-policy discount; but it's medically
necessary that I quit driving.
I saw the EP doctor this morning, but they have to
get the EKG from a local hospital to decide which
ablation they'll be doing to get rid of the atrial
flutter or atrial fibrillation, with the rapid heart
rate. I'm not sure at this time when the surgery will
be done. At least it'll be done outpatient...and I'll
have to get a driver, due to sedation. The female EP
doctor comes highly recommended, so I feel good about
that.
We had gotten a minor break from the heat and the
humidity, but it's coming back. There might be a
chance of storms over the weekend, but I'm not that
optimistic. It's too hot to be outside, even for
Field Day, and I have no plans to be outside, let
alone be out on errands, unless I have to. At least
someone from my Sunday School class will take me to
and from church...and the faculty advisor for the
college ham radio club will provide transportation
to/from test sessions, which are done 4 times a year.
I still have to contact ARRL/VEC to get either new
test books for the Technician exam, or help in getting
the Exam Tools software setup. The current Technician
Class Pool and Exams expire on June 30. But, so far,
no one has signed up for a July 23 exam session.
I reduced my net early checkin window to 30 minutes,
and now stop checkins when the net ends. It's too hard
to sit in the chair for long periods of time anymore.
I didn't know today was a new federal holiday
(Juneteenth), so I could not get the title for
the car from the bank. I'll do it tomorrow.

GE All!
It was a good week - we had a couple really
hot/humid days - but since last Thursday it's
been nice - some would say almost cool!
You won't miss buying gas Daryl! I hear stories now
saying we'll see $6 a gallon before summers over!
It just means inflation is going to take everything
up! Since transportation and manufacturing depends
on fuel of some sort.
For a brief moment I lost my mind and thought about
selling the corvette and buying an E-vehicle. Then
I came to my senses!
Planning on a trip to Branson in September - the gf's
mom has timeshares and we were able to trade it for
a stay near Branson. We'll be Hollister actually. I'm
looking forward to that.
On the radio front I finally setup Winlink with HF-VARA
and have a pretty reliable HF link for Winlink. It's
kinda cool.
The tomatoes in the garden are taking off - green
tomatoes are setting on - it won't be long I'll have
red ones!!
Yeah, my guess is OK Bob is Taco trucking!
Rick: That sounds like $8 a gallon! Wow! Hope you get
your bicycle!
I belong to the Rochester Corvette Club and they do
lots of Rally's and show things. I only participate a
little. It would be a full time job to do everything
they have planned!
No FD for me - I'll be at the IMSA Race at Watkins Glen.
I hope the weathers good!

VA7RBP:
Good evening Daryl and Bob and all on the NET.
It's been a busy week. I've been prepping for Field Day.
A few of us will be going to the Garland Bay Campsite on
Kootenay Lake this year. We're going to be running Solar
and batteries, (with a generator backup).
The weather here has been the pits, lots of rain. As soon
as there's a break in the weather, the lawn mowers come
out quick, before the rain starts up again. I haven't
been out riding the bike obviously...fair weather cyclist.
The new bike my Daughter is getting for me has not arrived
yet...I'm thinking they are hanging onto it until my 70th
birthday next Monday, or until our Son's family shows up
last weekend of the month.
Talking about sports cars...on the way to Nelson yesterday,
I spotted a bunch of Feraris (sp), some Aston Martins and
Corvettes (convoy)...must have been doing a rally thing or
run of some kind...kinda cool.
It will be a while before we see any fruit. Today was
beautiful...first non-rainy day in a while...calm before
the storm.
Gas prices here $2.16/liter, don't know what that is in US
equivalent.

Replies from WX4QZ:
Steve has been idle for 6 hours, and it's at least
midnight where he is now; so unless he types something,
I'm going to just log him as a bean for the count. I
wonder if Bob (Oklahoma) is out on the taco brigade??
(hi hi).
Bob, I guess the blessing in disguise is not worrying
about the car costs. Good thing you came to your senses
(hi hi). FB on the trip to Branson and the garden.
Weather is so screwed up everywhere...saw they had a
second large tornado in China in as many weeks.
Hurricane Season is underway now. I'll give you a
courtesy check on the Hotspot RPi SBC ZumSpot Net
tonight, so there's no need for you to show up over
there.
Rick, no Field Day for me...even if I still had a car,
it's too hot and humid...and the insects are all over
the place...plus, I don't need to get sunburned. My
lawn guy lost the check last month, and it cost $36
for a stop payment. He'll be back in July. Some areas
can't buy a drop of rain, and others can't get the
spigot turned off. I hope you can get that new bike
soon. Happy Early Birthday. I think the gas equivalent
is over $7 a gallon.
