WX4QZ:

Hard to believe it's August...that means
the first Monday of September, Labor Day,
Sept. 5, is coming soon. The PCL Net will
take that night off. Christmas stuff is
already up at Hobby Lobby, and Back To
School stuff is out...and it's in short
supply, and expensive.

The American Legion D-Star Net, that met
on the first Monday of the month on REF
56C, at the same time as this net, has
apparently gone QRT, from Net Control, Ken
Douglass, KY4KD, due to health issues. I
sent him an email, inquiring about taking
the net for him, but haven't heard anything
back. If I do take that net, I won't be here
on the first Monday of the month; at least
it only meets monthly. I'll know more next
week.

I have to get some new ink cartridges to
print some items, but it'll have to wait
until later Tuesday, as Terminix is coming
by in the morning to treat the yard for nests
of fire ants, and other insects, plus spray
the inside of the house. Then, I have to get
several items printed, and mail stuff off at
the Post Office, and pick up a keychain LED
Light, and a wallet from Dr. Leonard's (no
money in it, though, darn it), and a DV Mega
Stick I ordered from Gigaparts. I'm working
on getting set up with the TGIF DMR deal (I
doubt that means "Toes Go In First, Doesn't
Mean Radio" (hi hi)), so that would give me
more flexibility on the QuadNet Array with
my nets.

I get pre-ablation procedure blood work on the
9th, the procedure on the 16th, and a full body
physical exam/wellness check on the 23rd. My
neck, back, hip, legs, and feet, have really
been hurting lately...I have to use the cane to
get around the house. I stayed home from the
square dance this past Saturday night. At least
I have plenty of food and drink here. I'm trying
to avoid the Tylenol, but some days, the pain is
really bad; so I save that for when I need to
sleep at night. However, I don't want to take
more than 4 in a day, and not take them every
day, as it'll cause liver issues otherwise.

We did get some much needed rain the last few
days, and more is forecast later this week. The
fire danger is still high in areas that didn't
get the rain, and everything is tinder dry. I
will be glad when the cooler weather gets here.

GE All!

'Twas a good week. Tomatoes are starting to ripen
in the garden. Took the Corvette out Saturday to
a charity car show. 115 Corvettes there - it was a
fun time - really nice weather for the day. Not too
hot, low humidity.

Speaking of rain, we need some - I water my garden -
but the yard is brown.

Hope you get the American Legion net - would be good
to keep that going.

And hope the ablation surgery goes well - my son had
that done and it seems to have helped him a lot.

Nothing much new on the radio front - I need to order
some antenna wire to put a longer radiator on my end
fed wire. I've done a little it seems I really need
something in the neighborhood 71 feet to tune
everything from 80 thru 10.

One of my older hobbies is film photography - ordered
up some fresh chemistry - shot a roll of black and
white - processed it - pulled out my film scanner -
made it about half way through the roll, and it died -
it was getting old anyway - so I ordered a new one,
should be here in a couple more weeks.

A comment on my tomatoes - years past I always had my
garden patch behind the house, and they didn't ripen
until darned near the first frost. This year, it
occurred to me that maybe I should put them in a place
that got more sun. The only place for that here is in
the middle of my front yard. So I put a raised bed
there and put a pest fence around it! Oh my! That was
indeed all the right things to do - they're starting -
I've already ate a few - and I can see a time when I'm
going to have to give some away!

That's a lot o' bugs Rick!!

It's weird - things seem to be queuing up going out to
Rick.

VA7RBP:

Week was good, hot every day, currently 93F. Might get
some rain on Thursday. Most days I managed to get in a
10 mile bike ride, beat it home and retreated indoors
from the heat of the afternoon.

Like you Bob, the tomatoes are growing...not starting
to ripen yet though. we have a sprinkler system that
waters each of four zones for 20 minutes at 05:00 am,
but the drip system in the garden goes all day.

Not much radio activity this week.

I got a bug zapper on Friday, stuck it in the middle
of our patio table, left it on all Friday night...bad
move. When I looked out the window on Saturday morning
the table had about two inches of bugs all over, the
rest of the patio furniture was covered in the stuff.
It took me all of Sunday morning to clean everything
off. I think I need to do some strategic bug zapper
placement to avoid that scenario...I'll email a
picture.

Looks like you got sidetrack, and that's all I have for
this evening. So everyone have a great week, stay well,
and 73 until next time. And thanks again Bob for
providing the BBS

That was weird...I wasn't getting anything from you...did
you see my final comments?

Replies from WX4QZ:

Bob, I love the tomatoes, especially in salads. Whenever
I hear George Jones' song about the Corvette (it was the
YL in it), I think of you, as you're the only one I know
who has a Corvette. Not sure why the delay in responses
to Rick...the screen saver getting me again didn't help.
I haven't run the sprinkler system since before my Mom
died...next Tuesday makes 3 years since I lost her.

I had Steve, KC9SIO, take the HotSpot Raspberry Pi SBC
ZumSpot Net for me tonight...but asked him to give you
and me a courtesy checkin. I'll be glad to get that
ablation surgery done in just over 2 weeks.

Rick, that reminds me of a trip in coming back to Little
Rock from Lonoke one year, and got caught in a swarm of
"love bugs" (horny little insects). I'm glad my radiator
didn't get clogged up. My Terminix man would have a fit
if I had a deal like that!!

I did get your comments...the screen saver kicking in
didn't help matters. Bob wasn't sure why there was a
delay in them getting cued up to you.
