WX4QZ:
I'm curious as to how many forgot to spring
forward to Dumb Stupid Time (DST)(hi hi). To
me, Standard Time is CORRECT. Some senators in
Oklahoma are trying to make Standard Time the
permanent time...I wish they would...but, there
will be pushback on both sides; and you can
forget about non-hams adopting UTC!!
After severe thunderstorms with large hail and
damaging wind Saturday evening into Sunday
morning, winter cold has returned, with frost
advisories and freeze warnings across much of
the region; so much for the gardens and crops,
it happens every year. More severe weather may
occur Thursday into Friday, followed by another
widespread frost and freeze this weekend. The
Gulf Of Mexico waters are very warm, and that
may mean a rough tornado season, and an even
rougher hurricane season.
With the cold and pressure changes, I have had
severe pain in my back, left hip, and left leg
the last few days...so much so, where I had to
use a walker to get around. I could barely move
to/from a license exam session this past Saturday,
but we picked up a new Technician Class licensee.
One of the VE's told the group of all the things
they're doing for new licensees...they didn't
offer all that when I first got licensed 32 years
ago now!! My team is Field Stocked again, and with
the ARRL VEC Electronic Upload of exam session data,
I can mail the documents back at my leisure; which
is good, since I don't have a car anymore, and can't
afford to go to the Post Office that often. I think
he should've gotten the link from the FCC to pay the
$35, and if so, he'll have his ticket this evening,
or in the morning...72 hours after the session.
I'm to see the cardiologist Wednesday...I hope I'm
in less pain than I was on Saturday. I was going to
call my PCP to see if I could get a stronger pain
medication...but I wasn't in as much pain today.
I sat around all afternoon waiting for the pharmacy
prescription delivery to show up. They sent it out
on the first run, but the driver got lost, and it
just got here. I had the doorbell camera on since
1pm, and I think that the battery finally ran down,
so I'm charging it. Either that, or the sun shining
toward it burned it out...what would you expect on a
Monday, which is a horrible way to spend 1/7 of your
week (hi hi). And, with waiting, I have to delay
dinner until after the net...so it'll be Tuesday
before I get the scribe out.
Tomorrow is the 2nd Tuesday, which means Windows
Update...it'll wait until after I do my ham radio
nets, and release a square dance publication that
I'm Editor for. As usual, folks wait until the last
minute to send stuff in (sigh!).

K0WAV:
I have not much to offer tonight just lamenting all the
rain putting a hold my tower/mast raising project. So
been playing with my Clear Node Allstarlink gadget instead.
Hope things will dry out some this week and then maybe I
can get mast up and long wire running for some HF air time.
To Charley...different Scott.
Just that the Senate bill to end DST is stalled, and it
would not end DST but end STD time. DST would be full time
at that point. So not great, but no more changing the clock
at least.

VA7RBP:
Good evening Daryl and all on the net
WX here in Castlegar is rain, and maybe more snow, and 40F
currently. The next few days should see some improvement...
hopefully.
Like Scott, I'm chompin' at the bit to get up on the roof
to fiddle about with my antennas. Last week was pretty quiet,
I didn't do much on-air, just puttered about in the shack
modifying an AT-7000 tuner for use with a yaesu radio, and
programming an IC-2100 for another new ham. Did a bunch of
reading...I get into a reading binge every once in a while
and ignore all else around me.
No new news on my wife's surgery date, and she now needs a
knee replacement due to osteo-arthritis setting in...getting
old sucks.
Welcome to the NET Chuck!
Bob, Silver Sneakers sounds good. I have to wait until I'm 75
before I get free admission to the local rec. center.
DST has messed me up again this year. Not sleeping properly yet...
Thanks for hosting the NET Bob.

N3LBP:
Not much here playing on the bbs and stuff wanted to check in
for first time. Just learning what I can about packet; love and
enjoy it very much. Working my fldigi software and going to the
dvra shack tomorrow and fixing my radio up.
Just reading what is going. Tnx back to net control and thanks
for having me.
My call is not coming up N3LBP

NS2B:
GE All!
An uneventful week - just the normal Winlink and Net105 HF stuff.
I too am a non-fan of DST - I hear talk of it being done away with -
but doubt I'll live to see that.
I discovered a perk of being retired - I got a Silver Sneakers
membership at the Y - been going down there for the "old folk"
classes. They still wear me out! hihi

NT5R:
GE everyone
Been on road about one month, return MO late Thursday.
Hamfest Mt Vernon MO March 25. QRP convention Branson March 31
and April 1
The QRP REALLY good event, Mt Vernon usually good also.
Agree re DST, wasteful and MANY years ago, working on traffic
signals with many mechanical time clocks; spent half day twice
a year changing them.
Mexico has officially deleted DST.
Bob, the Silver Sneakers is nice. Just changed my insurance
carrier because previous carrier dropped that.
Way I travel can go just about anywhere in country and find local
place to work out.
Chuck if/when you return Welcome to net
Scott is that a new call sign?
Been playing with SDR dongle.

Replies from WX4QZ:
Scott, unfortunately, more rain and storms are forecast
Thursday and Thursday night, and then by this time next
week. Come summer, we probably won't be able to buy a
drop of rain.
As for the time change, I wish they'd make up their minds.
But, I think they're more concerned with other issues, and
the 2024 Presidential and Congressional Elections, than a
time change bill.
Rick, I sympathize with your wife on the knee replacement.
I need one as well, but I can't afford it. Getting old is
not for sissies, and if you call me one, I'll hit you with
my purse (hi hi).
Chuck, welcome to the net. It's in a roundtable format,
with 2 rounds, and we get the checkins 1 at a time. We
are here every Monday, except for the Mondays during the
weeks of Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day,
Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. Come back when you
can make it. And, your call is showing up over here...don't
worry.
Bob, I've heard of the Silver Sneakers deal, but I don't think
I ever did anything with it.
Charley, you are the world traveler. I did attend that OzarkCon
QRP deal in Branson several years ago, while K.O., N0KFQ, and
his XYL, Billie, were still with us. They took me to a local
Cracker Barrel, then to their QTH to see their shack, and
where the PCL Net started. They are sorely missed. The Stone
Castle Lodge is a great place to stay...there's going to be a
big square dance weekend there in late May, but there's no way
that I can go.
