Jim,
Another good one is always SO-50 downlink. 436.795 adjusting for doppler of
course. It is usually off on the descending passes coming over Alaska.
When I am on I will turn it on upon AOS in Spokane, WA. My station is torn
apart right now so hope to be back up and running by this weekend.

Got some travel plans coming up the next few weeks, and people have
expressed interest, so here's the details:
8/12/2017 I'll be traveling to EM43 to operate some Meteor Scatter on 6m
for the Perseids, but will also operate Satellites from EM43 while there..
afterwards I plan on scooting down to EM42 and EM41 to do some more Sat
passes before heading back to EM34 via whatever path I happen to feel like.
8/16 - 8/17 I'll be traveling from EM34 to EM38 on some business, but
should have time on the way up and back to do some passes. Watch twitter
closely, cause these will likely be little warning activation.
8/20 - 8/22 I'll be traveling from EM34 to EN21 for the Eclipse. As with
most eclipse chasers there's a very real possibility I may have to drive
from EN21 to wherever it's clear on the 21st... so there's a chance I
might end up out in Western Nebraska. Once again, watch twitter, cause who
knows where I'll end up. On the 22nd I'll be heading back to EM34 from
wherever my final Eclipse destination takes me.

AMSAT-NA Elects Executive Vice President
AMSAT-NA Vice President, Educational Relations, Joe Spier, K6WAO of
Reno, NV, has been elected by the AMSAT-NA Board of Directors as
Executive Vice President during a Board Meeting via a conference call
that took place on August 8, 2017. Joe's new duties will include
implementation of AMSAT-NA's Strategic Planning. He will continue in
his other duties as 2017 Space Symposium Chairman, AMSAT News Service
Co-Editor, ARISS-NA Education, and Educational Relations until new
personnel can be appointed or the task assigned is completed.
Under the AMSAT ByLaws, the position of Executive Vice President is
one of seven senior officer positions that are approved by the AMSAT
Board of Directors.
Included in the ByLaw stated duties, ?the Executive Vice President
shall act in the place of the President in the President's absence,
and shall have such other duties as the Board may determine.?
[Bylaws, Article II, Section 5B].
In addition, the Executive VP is assigned the responsibility of AMSAT
External Relations team leader and as acting director of any team
leader position that is not filled.
Joe is a Life Member of AMSAT-NA and has served in Educational
Relations during the past six years. He also has Life Memberships in
the ARRL, SARA (Society of Amateur Radio Astronomers) and the AFA
(Air Force Association). He holds an Extra Class license as well
Commercial licenses.
AMSAT-NA President, Barry Baines, WD4ASW said, ?I extend my
congratulations to Joe on his new position of leadership in AMSAT-NA.
As EVP, he will be working closely with me on a variety of matters
involving various AMSAT departments as we move forward on our
strategic planning process as well as day-to-day management of the
organization. Joe?s dedication to the strategic planning process
will enhance the future of AMSAT-NA.?

If you sent a SSTV image via AO-85 this evening about 2238 UTC, I just
want to let you know that someone (i.e. me) received it. Unfortunately,
it wasn't clear enough for me to identify the sender. I can see "CQ
AO-85 SSTV de SPACE COMMS" and I can see that it is a picture of
someone's face, but I can't make out a callsign.
It is reasonable to assume that the lack of resolution in the image I
received is due to the minimal receiving set up on my end.
I like Experimenter Wednesday. It gives me another radio challenge.

Steve that was my image. I made it at the last minute and didn't have
time to increase the size of my callsign, which is barely decipherable
even in the original image:

Please send me your reception if you don't mind. Lots of people
received the images this evening and they are sharing them on Twitter,
Facbook, and even on Instagram. Pretty cool to get SSTV reports from a
satellite. This is a first for me and I agree this is a very cool
experiment.

Yep, a great opportunity for someone to write code to check the ARISS.NET
and pcsat.findu.com downlink pages and check for last heard packet from
RS0ISS, from PSAT. If it is from PSAT-1 then it is only beacons. If it is
from PSAT itself, then the digipeater is on.
Though rather than randomly scarfing those pages, it might be more
efficient if maybe the FINDU.COM page originated the status report to the
AMSAT page every 2 hours.

But on the otherhand the page now is all manual and so it not only reflects
the reported status it also shows the interest shown by the number of hams
that take the time to report it.
If PSAT and ISS DATA were automatically updated, then they would show solid
bars of reports, and no one would bother reporting, and we would not see if
anyone cared enough to update it?
Besides, Steve just lives it when I suggest things for him to do... ;-)
