Hey Jim,

What was the problem you had with your ERC-M? I've built these for a couple
of people and they've worked just fine. Have you tried the ERC Mailing List
for support? The designer/creator does his best to give good support there
too.

If you want to have a chat off-list, I'll see if I can help you out too...

73,
John (M5ET)

You could use the Labjack U12 and piggyback.? The piggyback will need to be
built; there is a schematic in the SatPC32 files.? The piggyback would cost
maybe $15 and the U12 about $150.?

Since this question comes up frequently I made a page with a list of
interfaces. It's a first draft and more info could be added. If you
want to edit the wiki create an account on wikidot and let me know you
username/email address and I'll add you as an editor.

I am thinking of upgrading the station by removing the ft817 as downlink
receiver and going to SDR receiver.

Looking for best data to get started and choice of SDR unit to use.

Open to hearing pro and con!

Also interested in raspberry pi plus SDR to do the job. I have no experience
with raspberry but appears to becoming popular.

Can SATpc 32 control a sdr as it would any transceiver?

Jim,

I am very pleased with the FunCube Pro+ dongle. It is my downlink for sats.

No matter what SDR you get, make sure it will run with SDR Console v3.03.
This program will run your existing TX pefectly, including doppler. It is a
beautiful program that is always being updated. It is currently free in
preview, but may not stay that way forever. I have been using it about a
year.

Th FC Pro+ was designed specifically for sat work and does a very good job.

I have SatPC32 and have had it since the AO-10 days (I think). I don't use
it any longer. It is overly complicated and hard to configure. It is
powerful, but cumbersome. Very non-intuitive, and downright ugly in
appearance. (All very subjective opinions, of course).

Once I laid my hands on a modern program like SDRC, there was no going back.

I have an original, used once control box for the G5500. I think it has usb.
I?ll look if you are interested in it. I have no idea of it?s value but am

Good stuff, Joanne...thanks

One thing, though, that I have never understood, however: Does SatPC32
properly update keps and the sqf data when the 'update' option is used in
the program? Or do we need to keep updating manually. I can understand with
a new sat, manually trying to find the right data, but after the sats are
rolling along for a few weeks the normal sites that identify keps usually
have that data current.

Thanks for any input
