Fault finding, with 12V circuit tester check for current at pins under flap
when circuits are active, ie brake lights on, & check earth by putting on rear
lamps & connect tester from pin 5 or 7 to pin 3 (earth/white/31)

     Hi down in Aus the round towing sockes just about obsolete! All new
fittings have a flat configuration like so  OOOOOOOOOOOOO  for the pins.
