Subject: XRouter (node/bbs) Version 504a
Message-ID: <74F1AD051BBS>

XRouter version 504a has finally been released, for Linux, Raspberry Pi, and Windows.

For those who don't know, XRouter is a monolithic, multilingual, colourful networking solution for conventional Packet Radio. It includes ax25, Netrom, amprnet IP router, BBS / PMS, multi-protocol chat server, web server, Telnet, FTP and NFTP (Netrom File
Transfer Protocol) servers and clients, POP3, SMTP, MQTT broker, REST and MQTT API's, and lots more.

There is, as yet, no complete "package" for version 504a, but the intention is to produce one.

If you are an existing XRouter sysop, simply drop the new executable in place of your previous one. If you are new to XRouter, the best thing to do is download the version 503 package, follow the installation instructions, then replace the 503a executable
 with the v504a one.

All files can be downloaded from files area of the Xrouter IO group: https://groups.io/g/xrouter where you can also get support. It is highly recommended that you join the group.

There is an under-construction wiki for XRouter at: https://wiki.oarc.uk/packet:xrouter and an (unfinished) "tour" at https://wiki.oarc.uk/packet:xrouter:tour

There is also a VERY out of date site at https://ohiopacket.org/xrpi/ which is mostly applicable to all versions of XRouter.

XRouter comes in 3 flavours, depending on the operating system. For Raspberry Pi (and other ARM systems), it is "XrPi". For Linux (X86 etc) it is "XrLin", and for Windows it is "XrWin". To avoid confusion, the files are distributed with unique file names,
such as "xrpi32v504a", which indicates Xrouter version 504a, for 32-bit raspberry pi. You can simply rename them back to "xrpi", "xrwin" etc.

The links to the files are as follows:

https://groups.io/g/xrouter/files/xrwin-503a-32bit-full-package.zip

https://groups.io/g/xrouter/files/xrlin32v504a
https://groups.io/g/xrouter/files/xrlin64v504a
https://groups.io/g/xrouter/files/xrwin32v504a.exe
https://groups.io/g/xrouter/files/xrwin32v504a-no-pcap.exe

Sadly there's not much in the way of a changelog yet.

73, Paula
