...Temperatures will be 10 to 20 degrees above average across the
Northern/Central Plains...

A front over the Northern High Plains to parts of the Pacific Northwest
will move eastward to the Great Lakes and southward to the Southern
Plains/Southern California by Saturday evening.  The system will produce
snow over parts of the interior Pacific Northwest to the Northern Rockies
with rain along the Pacific Northwest Coast on Friday morning.  The snow
will move into the Upper Mississippi Valley/Upper Great Lakes by Friday
evening and into parts of the Northeast by Saturday evening.  Rain will
develop along the front over parts of the Lower Mississippi
Valley/Southern Plains overnight Friday and move eastward to
Ohio/Tennessee Valleys/Central Gulf Coast by Saturday evening.  Snow over
parts of the Great Basin/Northern California will end by Saturday morning.


An upper-level low just off the Southern California Coast will move inland
to the Southern High Plains while weakening by Saturday.  The system will
produce rain over parts of Southern California that will move eastward to
the Southern Rockies/Southern High Plains by Saturday.  Snow will develop
over parts of the higher elevations of the Great Basin that will move into
parts of the higher elevations of the Southern Rockies/Southern High
Plains by Saturday evening.  A second upper-level low will develop over
Northern California overnight Friday moving southward to Southern
California by Saturday evening.  The storm will produce rain over parts of
Central/Southern California with snow over the higher elevations over the
Sierras on Saturday.  In addition on Saturday afternoon into evening,
another front will move into parts of the Pacific Northwest.  The system
will produce rain and higher elevation snow over parts of the Northwest by
Saturday evening.    

Meanwhile, deep low pressure center over Maine will move northward into
Eastern Canada by Friday evening.  Heavy snow over Maine will wind down by
late Friday morning.  Circulation around the low will aid in bringing cold
air over the Great Lakes that will produce lake effect/enhanced snow
downwind from the Great Lakes and into the higher elevations of the
Central/Northern Appalachians on Friday.  The snow will come to an end
west to east by Friday evening.
