...Heavy snow possible over the Sierras...
...Heavy rain possible over the Northern/Central California Coast...
...Snow possible from Northern California/Pacific Northwest eastward to
Central High Plains...
...Temperatures will be 20 to 35 degrees below average over the
Northern/Central High Plains and Northern Rockies...
A complex storm over the eastern third of the country will move from the
Ohio Valley to Eastern Canada by Wednesday evening. The system will
produce showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Southern
Mid-Atlantic/Southeast that will move off the coast overnight Tuesday.
Rain and snow will develop over the Upper/Middle Mississippi Valley and
Great Lakes/Ohio Valley to the Northeast/Northern Mid-Atlantic that will
change over to mostly snow downwind from the Great Lakes into the
Northeast by Wednesday evening. On Tuesday morning into Wednesday morning
along the rain/snow line, areas of rain/freezing rain will develop over
parts of Northern New England.
Meanwhile, an upper-level low will remain over the Pacific Northwest
through Wednesday evening. The circulation around the upper-low will aid
in streaming a plume of moisture into California on Tuesday into
Wednesday. The storm will produce coastal rain and higher elevation snow
over parts of the Pacific Northwest and Northern/Central California
through Wednesday evening. The rain will be heavy at times along the
California Coast. Likewise, the snow will be heavy over the Sierras also
through Wednesday. In addition, snow will develop over parts of the Great
Basin into the Central/Northern Rockies that will continue on Tuesday and
Wednesday. On Wednesday, snow will develop over parts of the Central
Plains.
