...Severe thunderstorms possible for portions of the Gulf Coast states...

...Heavy snow possible for the California mountains as well as the
Mogollon Rim and portions of the central and southern Rockies...

Strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible across much of the South
this weekend as a warm front and an upper-level disturbance from portions
of the Gulf Coast and Southeast to the Ohio valley and portions of the
Great Lakes. The Storm Prediction Center has highlighted much of the Lower
Mississippi valley has having slight to enhanced risks for severe storms
on through Saturday. The these threats will shift eastward to the eastern
Gulf states and southern Mid-Atlantic region on Sunday. Please refer to
products issued by the Storm Prediction Center for further details on the
severe weather threat.

Much of the western states will remain in an active wet pattern through
the weekend as a Pacific frontal system moves inland. Widespread rain and
mountain snow will spread from coastal areas to the Interior West, Great
Basin and along the Rockies. Heavy snow will be possible through Saturday
morning for the mountains in California and from the Mogollon Rim to the
central and southern Rockies. The intensity of the precipitation will
steadily increase late Saturday afternoon into the evening hours across
California and the Pacific Northwest coastal areas as another frontal
system approaches. Excessive rainfall will be possible across portions of
California; where forecast 3-day totals may range from 3 to 8 inches
primarily along the coast and the mountains, with isolated amounts near 10
inches in the Sierras.
