...A wintry mix of snow, sleet, and rain/freezing rain over parts of New
England...

...Heavy snow possible for parts of the Northern/Central Plains into parts
of the Upper/Middle Mississippi Valley...

...Heavy rain over parts of Southern New England and Northern Mid-Atlantic
Coast...

A low pressure system located just offshore of Maryland/Delaware will
continue to lift northeast over the next few days - reaching the Canadian
Maritimes by Thursday. Rain, possibly heavy at times, is forecast for the
northern Mid-Atlantic/southern Northeast region today and into Wednesday
morning. From the Appalachians to Maine precipitation will likely be a
wintry mix today before becoming restricted to Northern Maine by Wednesday
morning. Snow/ice will taper off over the Central Appalachians by this
evening. Much of the Northeast has winter storm warnings and winter
weather advisories in effect.

A storm system exiting the Rockies will spread snow and rain across the
Plains and into the Upper Midwest/Great Lakes region as it tracks
eastward. Numerous winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories are
in effect for this system from Wyoming to Wisconsin. Snow and lower
elevation rain over the Southwest/Southern Rockies and snow over parts of
the Northern/Central Rockies and parts of the Great Basin will taper off
during the overnight hours tonight. The snow will continue to expand
eastward to the Upper Great Lakes overnight Tuesday with some rain
developing over parts of the Western Ohio Valley. Snow may become heavy at
times.

High pressure will build over much of the West and limit onshore flow.
Precipitation over the state of California will diminish by late
afternoon/tonight. Portions of the Pacific Northwest are forecast to have
a few valley rain and mountain snow showers.
