...There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms over the Southern
Plains...
...Heavy snow possible over the Cascades and the Central Rockies...
...Heavy rain possible over parts of the Pacific Northwest and the
Central/Southern Plains/Lower Mississippi Valley...
Low pressure over Eastern Ohio Valley/Central Appalachians will move off
the Mid-Atlantic Coast overnight Tuesday. Showers and thunderstorms will
develop along and ahead of the associated cold front from the Central
Appalachians/Tennessee Valley to the Mid-Atlantic/Southeast on Tuesday
morning that will move off the Mid-Atlantic/Southeast Coast Tuesday
evening into Wednesday morning. Rain will also develop over the Lower
Great Lakes into parts of the Northeast that will move off the Northeast
Coast by Wednesday afternoon. Also, snow will develop over parts of
Northern Maine with a few pockets of rain/freezing rain through Wednesday
morning. Snow will return to parts of western Northern New England by
Wednesday afternoon into evening.
Meanwhile, an upper-level low over the Southwest will slowly advance
eastward to Southern/Central Plains by Wednesday evening. Rain and higher
elevation snow will develop over parts of the Central/Southern Rockies and
Northern/Central High Plains that will end by Wednesday evening. Showers
and thunderstorms will begin to develop over parts of the High Southern
Plains on Tuesday morning that will expand into parts of the
Central/Southern Plains by Tuesday evening. Overnight Tuesday the showers
and thunderstorm will move into parts of the Middle/Lower Mississippi
Valley that will be ending over most of the Southern Plains by Wednesday
evening. Additionally, rain will develop over parts of the Central Plains
on Tuesday morning that will move into parts of the Middle Missouri Valley
on Wednesday.
In the meantime, onshore flow along with multiple upper-level disturbances
will aid in producing rain and higher elevation snow over parts of the
Pacific Northwest. Overnight Tuesday, a plume of moisture will move into
the Northwest Coast that will produce heavier rain and higher elevation
snow over the Pacific Northwest and expanding into parts of the Northern
Rockies on Wednesday morning into evening. The snow levels will rise on
Wednesday, too.
