...Heavy rain possible over parts of New England Coast...

A deepening low pressure center and associated surface front will track
northward offshore the Mid-Atlantic Coast to Nova Scotia by early Tuesday
morning. Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms is forecast for
much of the Northeast over the next couple of days as the low skirts by.
Periods of heavy rain may be possible for portions of New England,
especially across Maine-- flash flooding may occur due to the excessive
rainfall expected.
Additional upper-level energy over the Great Lakes/Northern Mid-Atlantic
will move eastward off Southern New England Coast overnight Sunday. The
energy will produce rain over parts of the Great Lakes moving into the
Northern Appalachians by Sunday afternoon.

Showers and thunderstorms will span from the Northern High Plains to the
Upper Midwest as the a front slowly passes through the Northern/Central
Plains. More upper-level energy rotating around the upper-level low will
move into Central California while deepening as the energy pushes into
parts of the Great Basin by Monday. The energy will produce rain and
higher elevation snow over parts of the Pacific Northwest into the
Northern Rockies and for portions of California and the Great Basin.
