Tropical moisture will pool along a quasi-stationary front extending from
parts of the Northeast to the Great Lakes/Ohio Valley then southwestward
to parts of the Southern Plains through Tuesday evening into Wednesday.
Showers and thunderstorms will develop along and near the boundary with
heavy rain at times through Tuesday evening. In addition, daytime heating
will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms for parts of the
Mid-Atlantic, Central Appalachians, Tennessee Valley and the Eastern Gulf
Coast during the afternoon into late evening hours on Monday and Tuesday.
Meanwhile, upper-level energy over the Upper Midwest will aid in producing
showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Northern Plains/Upper
Mississippi Valley through Monday afternoon. Additional upper-level
energy will move into the Upper Midwest on Monday afternoon moving to the
Upper Great Lakes by Wednesday. The added energy will aid in producing
showers and thunderstorms overnight Monday over parts of the
Northern/Central Plains that will move into parts of the Upper/Middle
Mississippi Valley by Tuesday into Tuesday evening. Elsewhere,
upper-level energy and monsoonal moisture will aid in producing showers
and thunderstorms over parts of the Southern/Central Rockies on Tuesday
afternoon into evening.
