...Unseasonably warm temperatures expected from the northern Rockies to
the Upper Midwest...

The weather pattern across the contiguous U.S. will be unusually quiet for
November through the short range forecast period. A fast-moving cold front
will cross the Northeastern U.S. today, bringing scattered rain showers,
with snow showers possible for the highest elevations. The cold front will
also sweep across the Ohio valley and southeastern U.S., but it will be
starved for moisture and will produce little or no precipitation for those
areas. A few scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible along the
tail end of the front across the southern High Plains today and Saturday.
Behind the front, Canadian high pressure will usher in a cooler air mass
from the Northeast to the southern plains by Saturday, with afternoon high
temperatures forecast to be 5 to 10 degrees below average.

Farther west, high pressure at the mid and upper-levels will be
responsible for warming temperatures through the weekend from the northern
Rockies to the Upper Midwest. High temperatures on Saturday and Sunday are
forecast to be 15 to 25 degrees above average across these areas. Along
the West Coast, a Pacific frontal system will approach by late today,
bringing rain showers to coastal areas before spreading inland tonight
into Saturday. Snow will be possible at the higher elevations by Saturday
as somewhat cooler temperatures move into the Northwest. By Sunday,
another system will begin to spread rain and high elevation snows into the
Pacific Northwest.
