ZL100ANZAC to be on air
Date : 20 / 04 / 2015
Author : Jim Linton - VK3PC
Commemorative callsign ZL100ANZAC soon takes to the Amateur Radio bands
for the ANZAC Centenary, with a group of ZL operators registered on a roster.
Operation starts on ANZAC Day at Midday New Zealand time (10am AEST)
and will last one month.
The New Zealand Association of Amateur Transmitters (NZART) says each
rostered operator determines the time, band and mode to operate
- so potentially there can be simultaneous operation in different modes
on the same band, or on different bands.
ZL100ANZAC is to have its own page on qrz.com soon after it begins operation.
In a quirk of technology, the New Zealand Radio Spectrum Management SMART
registration system does not have the capacity of include the full callsign
it has issued, only able to fit in ZL100ANZA. But the NZART is assured
that ZL100ANZAC has been issued.
It joins eight ANZAC-suffixed callsigns in Australia,
TC100 prefixed stations in Turkey and and the OP0PPY station in Belgium
at a war memorial site.
