DECLARATION for the ELECTION OF DIRECTORS
Four (4) directors will have their terms retire at the conclusion of the next Annual General Meeting (AGM) in May 2025.
This creates four (4) vacancies in the Board at the conclusion of the AGM.
The Directors who will retire are Giles Kirby VK5GK, Scott Williams VK3KJ, Peter Clee VK8ZZ and Peter Schrader VK4EA.
Clause 14 of the Constitution of the WIRELESS INSTITUTE OF AUSTRALIA (WIA) specifies the way in which Directors of
the WIA are to be elected to that position.
A call for nominations for the position of Director of the WIA was made in November 2024.
This call for nominations was placed in the WIA National News Broadcast and Amateur Radio Magazine,
in accordance with the Election Regulations.
Each retiring Director was eligible for re-nomination.
Following the call for nominations, I advised that I received five (5) nominations from WIA members
for the position as Director.
These nominations were confirmed to be valid and received by the advertised closing date.
The nominations were as follows:
Giles Kirby VK5GK
Klaus Illhardt VK3IU
Peter Clee VK8ZZ
Peter Schrader VK4EA
Scott Williams VK3KJ
As there will be four (4) vacancies and there were five (5) nominations, an election needed to be held.
Voting was by electronic means or by paper ballot if so requested. Voting opened on 1st February 2025
and closed on 28th February 2025.
Voter participation was very high. There were 2,806 eligible votes with 1,247 who voted.
This equates to 44% of eligible voters casting a vote.
After confirming the voting results, I now formally declare the four (4) successful nominees as having
been elected to the position of Director of the Wireless Institute of Australia as:
Giles Kirby VK5GK
Peter Clee VK8ZZ
Peter Schrader VK4EA
Scott Williams VK3KJ
These four (4) Directors elect will take up their role at the conclusion of the Annual General meeting
to be held on the 3rd of May 2025. They will remain in that role for a period of two (2) years.
The existing three (3) continuing Directors are:
Lee Moyle VK3GK
Chris Dimitrijevic VK3FY
Steve Green VK2TSG
These continuing three (3) directors will retire at the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting in May 2026.
I Pete Cherry VK2LP, the duly appointed returning Officer of the Wireless Institute of Australia confirm
that these results are valid and in accordance with the Constitution of the Wireless Institute of Australia
and the Election Regulations.
I take this opportunity to thank all the nominees and congratulate the successful candidates on their
election to that important role. And thank you to all the members who cast their vote.
