Date : 03 / 05 / 2015
Author : Jim Linton - VK3PC
Many thousands of contacts have already been made by the commemorative
ANZAC-prefixed stations in Australia and New Zealand.
Also in the commemoration of the ANZACs was Turkey with its nine
TC100-prefixed callsigns and the Polygon Wood station at the
Belgium memorial OP0PPY.
From New Zealand the ZL100ANZAC callsign is on air for a month and can
be heard on the HF bands using various modes.
In Australia, VK100ANZAC is being activated by the Moorabbin Radio Club,
which is adjacent to the Mentone RSL in Melbourne’s southeast.
The Illawarra Amateur Radio Society is using VI2ANZAC to commemorate
the loss of the U.S. oil tanker "Cities Service Boston" which sank in
a storm 16 May 1942 off the Illawarra coast.
In the garrison city of Townsville is VI4ANZAC in memory of all who served
our nation in a time of great need, this commemorative station will be
heard using CW, SSB and the digital modes, thanks to the
Townsville Amateur Radio Club.
Full details of all events planned until December 20, are on the
