EuCW Bulletin No 2021/02
========================
1) Covid-19 and EuCW activities
The Pandemic situation is still critical: We hope that all can pass
soon. In the meantime, I invite you to be active (and to stay home),
especially in the upper segment of the cw bands. Take part in the
Snakes & Ladders EuCW activity (and all other EuCW activities) and
invite your ham friends to take part in the game. Info on our web site
at: https://www.eucw.org/sl.html.
2) Netherlands Telegraphy Club request to join the EuCW Family
Theo (PA3HEN / K4HEN), wrote me this e-mail: "We have started a new
CW club in the Netherlands as there was not yet one beside the QRP
club and the VHSC. Our club name is Netherlands Telegraphy Club. Our
club goals are: To keep CW alive, to expand the use of CW, To gain
band activity with challenges and awards, Advise and assist new
CW operators, to become life time friends. We think our goals are
perfectly fitting the ones of the EUCW club. Because of this we do
like to apply for membership of EUCW. As we are just started
and have less of 100 members yet we understand that we
are becoming a Restricted Member. We started officially
January 1st 2021 and have 34 members today. Some information:
Website (under construction): https://www.qsl.net/ntc Sked page:
http://n8fq.org/sked/index.php?board=ntc We are also listed at
the CW Club RBN network. Please consider to accept our request to
become part of the EUCW family. Thank you in advance". We are
very glad to have the "Netherlands Telegraphy Club" with us and
we hope they can become bigger: Their goals are absolutely good.
According to art. 2 of the EuCW Constitution: "Sec.1. Membership
of the Association consists of those clubs who have signed the
certificate of co-operation. Sec.2. Any amateur radio CW club
submitting satisfactory evidence of having 100 or more licensed
individual members may apply for Full (voting) membership of EuCW.
Any amateur radio club submitting satisfactory evidence of having
5 to 99 licensed individual members may apply for Restricted,
(non-voting) membership of EuCW. Such applications will be approved
provided none of the member-club raise any objection. Sec.3. There
is no membership fee. Sec.4. Any member-club may withdraw from the
Association by submitting a written statement of resignation. Sec.5.
Any member-club consistently failing to support EuCW activities and
failing to give satisfactory reassurances to the Chairman concerning
future support shall normally, after a period of two years of such
lack of support, be excluded from membership of EuCW. It is the
responsibility of the Chairman to report the circumstances to the
Association, via the EuCW Bulletin, and to recommend termination
of membership if this seem appropriate". So, please, let me know
as soon as possible, if you have some oppositions about it.
3) The GPCW
Martin (IK2RMZ) updated our website with information about the GPCW
(Grupo Portugues de CW): Take one minute to visit their website,
which is full of initiatives about the diffusion of radiotelegraphy
(https://gpcw.pt/wp/).
3) The ICWC - The International CW Council
The EuCW is now part of the ICWC, an International Association run by
The Long Island CW Club, our Associated Member (more info at: https:/
/longislandcwclub.org/membership/): So please invite the cw groups
you know to take part in the ICWC.
4) The UNESCO Project
The EuCW Chairman and DK8KK, Karlheinz (AGCW-DL Chairman) asked
the ICWC to organize initiatives for including cw and radiotelegraphy
into the UNESCO World Heritage List. Well, Belgium
[https://immaterieelerfgoed.be/nl], the Netherlands
[https:// www.immaterieelerfgoed.nl/en/morsecode] and Germany
[https://www.unesco.de/en/morse-telegraphy] are each working on an
initiative since 2014 to promote CW as an UNESCO intangible world
heritage: Up to now those countries did it to anchor the plan in their
national country lists, but we must study common initiative to go up
to an international level; so, please, 1st of all try to make a national
nomination of cw in your countries. EuCW will support you.
5) I1ZB Antonio Zerbini (Nini), former INORC President, is SK
Licensed in 1959, ex Radio Officer Operator of Italian Navy and
Maritime Coastal Radio Station "ICB/Genoa Radio", I1ZB Antonio
Zerbini was an ARI member and the past President of Italian Naval
"Old Rhythmers" Club - INORC. He became SK on 10.03.2021. We miss you
I1ZB, all the INORC Club miss you. You made a great job for cw and
radiotelegraphy all around the world. Rest in peace OM. Next INORC
naval contest will be dedicated to I1ZB.
6) EuCW award manager
After the saddening news about the passing away of the EUCW award
manager our main award remains without manager and without the
remaining stock of paper awards. We are looking for a new manager and
for sponsors of new awards. As short term solution and for the time
being new applicants can obtain a digital version (PDF) free of
charge. In the meantime, please ask around in your clubs to find a
potential new manager willing to do the job. As long as the award is
digital, the manager should be able to modify a PDF file with
applicant date.
I wish you all the best and stay safe!
