No early checkins. Net order is Daryl,
Bob (NY), Carl, Bob (OK), Rick, and
whoever else shows up.

Note that with this coming Sunday, April
20, being Easter, the PCL Net will NOT
meet next Monday, April 21...we'll return
on April 28. I saw where a bill has been
introduced to create an "Easter Monday"
holiday...which would add a new holiday
between Presidents Day in February, and
Memorial Day in May. Folks get more holiday
recess than I got back in elementary school
nearly 60 years ago!! I guess folks will
need to recover from technicolor hen fruit
(Easter Eggs) and candy (hi hi).

N5VLZ:

Sorry I missed last week, but after 15 inches
of rain in 3 days, along with golf ball to
baseball size hail, 80 mph winds, tornadoes,
plus power and internet outages, I was QRT.

I was able to set up my smartphone as a mobile
hotspot, but the speeds were much slower than
they were otherwise. Plus, the first thing that
fails around here in bad weather is the cellphone
networks. Except for some small tree branches
down in my yard, I was unscathed...but much of
Little Rock, and Arkansas, had downed trees,
power lines, washed out/flooded roads, etc.
Tragically, there were also injuries and
fatalities.

I found a new smartphone app called QRZ XML
for a nominal fee, to go with my QRZ XML site
subscription. I needed something to look up
callsigns off the QRZ website when the regular
internet is down, but apparently, their server
was having issues earlier...probably from all
the stormy weather. More storms are forecast
later this week, and to end the month. I dread
what hurricane season may bring. One forecast
noted that "Florida folks may need to worry".

I got the new alarm system in from SimpliSafe,
but I don't have the tools needed to install
it, and my friends are out of pocket right now.
So, I have to wait until next month to switch
things over, to pay the installation/switchover
fee. I will pay about the same as I was paying
with ADT, but there are more security features
available, and I can add things on when I'm
ready. I had to cancel the planned hamfest trips
via Amtrak to pay for the new alarm system, and
to get some groceries. I figured it'd happen
eventually.

I saw where the SharkRF M1KE now has Allstar
capabilities in the beta software. But, when
you consider all you can do with it, it's a
good price, along with portability. Yet, that
is money I don't have right now.

GE Bob (NY), how was your week?? >>>

NS2B:

GE All!

It was a busy week. Flagging at the track,
running to Syracuse. I just got home this
morning! I'm ready for bed!

On the radio front, one or more of the
batteries in my Home Patrol II scanner has
decided to die, it won't recharge now, so I
need to order a new set of batteries.

Weather wise we've been cycling from cold to
warm. I'll be glad when warm is the standard.

Bought a set of loading ramps for my pickup
so I can haul my riding mower over to MaryJo's
and do her yard. Maybe I'll start up an
impromptu lawn service.

My alarm system is 2 dogs and a shotgun!

My birthday is this Saturday. I'll be 72!
And still kicking!

BTU Daryl >>>

N5VLZ:

Bob, glad you're still on this side of the
grass, and happy early birthday. I'll have
to find the meme of the 'redneck alarm system'
and send it your way...it's funny. Mowing can
be a pain in the grass (hi hi)...I skipped the
service that was supposed to be here tomorrow,
as even with the rain, the grass hasn't grown
that much. Bummer on the scanner batteries
dying.

GE Carl, how was your week?? >>>

**

KX4AC:

GE all, and happy birthday, Bob!

Things are pretty good here. I haven't put up
a permanent antenna yet, but the Buddipole
works pretty good in the backyard. I found
about this stuff called "Faraday fabric" that
makes a pretty good ground in the backyard.
You just spread it out on the lawn. It's not
exactly made for hams, but it gets the job
done. I may need to take the Buddipole out
to a park just north of here on some low
foothills and see how much better it is.

The weather is pretty nice right now. Maybe
up to 85 at the peak of the afternoon, but
65-70 at dawn and nice all day. Hardly any
rain here, but we do get some cloudy days.

I have been taking morning walks with my HT
and camera over to some lakes nearby. Ya.
Lakes in the desert. We are definitely a bit
crazy here. Pretty sure there are some ducks
living over on the lakes, but have not seen
them yet.

I finally got my "Senior National Parks
Lifetime Pass" so I think Wednesday will be
a trip up to Montezuma's Castle and Montezuma's
Well. I should be able to get a couple of good
postcard pictures there. I should try to take
an antenna and radio and see if I can get out ...
but if I remember right, it is mostly surrounded
by peaks, so maybe not.

I guess that's about all for now. back to net >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Carl, FB on the Buddipole, the Faraday Fabric, the
weather, the lakes, and the ducks. Make sure that
Montezuma doesn't take revenge on you if you drink
the water (hi hi). Hope you can get some good photos,
and maybe work some stations.

Bob (NY), I just emailed you on the redneck security
system :)

GE Bob (OK), how was your week?? >>>

KF5TVG:

GE Daryl and all on the net!

First, Happy Birthday to Bob (NY). At 72 you're just
getting warmed up!

My back and neuropathy were bothering me Fri/Sat, so
I didn't go to the Claremore hamfest. Probably saved
some money! Hi Hi

Sunday, went to church with daughter and her family
to see the grandkids KF5TVG : sing for Palm Sunday,
then later that day, went to see one of the kids play
in a soccer match. It was hot and sunny at mid 80s
already.

Have been tinkering with my 3D printer to get ready
to print 100 keychains for grand daughter's 5th grade
class that is "graduating" out of elementary, and going
to middle school next year.

Not much else to report, other than participated in
hamword, winlink wednesday, and a couple other winlink
groups.

That's all for now. BTU Daryl>>>

N5VLZ:

Bob (OK), they were plugging the Greene Country
Hamfest (Claremore) heavily on the RCWA Bordeom
Breakers Net last week. Missed their net today,
so didn't get a report. FB on the Palm Sunday
activities...next week, the restaurants will be
packed!! FB on the graduation keychains, and the
ham radio groups.

GE Rick, how was your week?? >>>

**

VA7RBP:

Good evening Daryl and all on NET, and Happy
Birthday Bob!

It has been a slow couple of weeks. The weather
has been cloudy and wet, until this weekend.
The sun came out, temps are now in the 70's,
and stuff is starting to sprout.

This weekend, I managed to get my bicycle out of
the shed, tune it up and get out for a couple of
rides.

I planted some carrots and radishes in our little
garden planters as well this weekend.

Radiowise, it's just been my usual morning PACTOR
sessions on 40M and 20M, and those have been
pretty quiet.

Hopefully the warm weather will stick around, so
I can get some more bike riding in.

Well that's all I have, nothing very exciting...

BTU Daryl >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Rick, FB on the weather, bike things, gardening,
and ham radio stuff. Field Day is just over 2 months
away, but I have no plans for it.

That's it for round 1...back to the top for final
comments.

Bob (NY), I emailed you a birthday cake and a guide
to the redneck security system...so you can't say
I never gave you anything (hi hi). Thanks for the
use of the BBS...anything else?? >>>

**

NS2B:

Thanks for the birthday wishes.

That's a funny guide!

Nothing more here - everyone have a Happy Easter -
73 >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Take care...that cake would be enough for all of us!!

Carl, anything else?? >>>

**

KX4AC:

No, can't think of anything else.

Good night all, and 73s all around! >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Take care, Carl...see you in 2 weeks.

Bob (OK), anything else?? >>>

**

KF5TVG:

Nothing else. Thanks to Daryl and Bob for making this
net happen! BTU>>>

**

N5VLZ:

Have a good week, Bob...thanks for stopping by.

Rick, anything else?? >>>

**

VA7RBP:

Nope, that's it for me. Everyone have a great
couple of weeks, stay well, 73 for now,
BTU Daryl >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Thanks for being here, Rick.

That'll do it for tonight's net. Everyone have a
Happy Easter, and we'll see everyone again on
April 28. 73 and GN DE N5VLZ >>>
