Don't believe everything you read, scholars like engineers, politicians and
especially scientists have one thing in common, no two can ever agree on
anything. Always do your own homework, Google is your friend and although
Wiki is not known for accuracy there you will find many substantiated, that
is documented origins of OK. The one I first became familiar with was
illiterate West African slaves.

A West African (Mande and/or Bantu) etymology has been argued in scholarly sources
tracing the word back to the Wolof and Bantu word waw-kay or the Mande
(aka "Mandinke" or "Mandingo") phrase o ke.

Notice it has been argued, I just said no two can ever agree on anything. It
was popularized by a newspaper? Oh no, the only good use for newspaper is to
line the bottom of a bird cage.

"New Jersey, the most American of all states. It has everything from
wilderness to the Mafia. All the great things and all the worst,
like Route 22."
