The "holes" that you referenced were a by-product ofSatGates and RF
systems seeing that they weren't forwarding messages due to it getting
there via the Internet. so they just pulled the plug leaving the Internet
group to themselves. For those in the US or EU and elsewhere how many
bulletins do you see going to @USBBS, @EU, etc.? Not many if any.

My users would grumble that they would need to check the BBS two or more
times per day otherwise they would miss messages due to them being purged
due to excessive traffic. So they just stopped using the BBS.

I acknowledge that at around this time higher speed internet speeds were
coming to the average home which didn't help.

If "Hams" wanted a high spped mesage forwarding system they could have
just started a telnet BBS system on the Internet instead of destroying the
Amateur Radio based system that used to exist.

My local club BBS hasn't had a SysOp in years - so I can't use it!
Messages don't get released.
