Don't it always seem to go, you don't know what you've got 'till it's gone.
They paved Paradise put up a parking lot.
Melanie Safka sang that tune about the time development in New Jersey started
to get out of hand, the nearby town of Lakewood was the downtown CBD
surrounded by forest. Today nearly every square inch has an apartment complex
sitting on it and is bursting at the seams. Farther south it's office and
industrial parks, New Jersey is officially The Garden State, but with most of
the farms and woodlands built over it gas become The Garbage State.
Oh, FYI Melanie is a Jersey Girl... ironic, isn't it?
Since Canada holds the parking lot record, maybe it's time to change the
lyrics to O Canada just a bit?
