Hi fellow amateur historians,
Another Today that unfortunately omitted a major fact I shall add here. The
famous Enigma machine had finally been cracked so the Allies could decode
intercepted Nazi messages. Winston Churchill was faced with the hardest
decision of his life, whether to prevent the bombing of Coventry or keep the
knowledge of Enigma secret. Since if preventing the bombing of Coventry would
reveal it had been cracked and the Nazis would quickly use another code and
set the Allies back to start all over again he chose to sacrifice Coventry.
We all know Churchill was a wise man like Ulysses between Scylla and Caribdis
who sacrificed 6 men rather than lose the whole ship.
