The article says Jean Lafitte, ( c. 1780 – c. 1823) a French pirate and privateer
in the Gulf of Mexico in the early 19th century warned Colonel Andrew Jackson,
but omits an important fact, he supplied the American forces that without sufficient
supplies would have been soundly defeated.
