Hi fellow old buzzards,
While those abroad may not remember Ed Sullivan's "really big shoe" as he
introduced it, I'll never forget seeing the Beatles live on our old B&W TV,
my parental units never missed Ed Sullivan on the only network America
watched during prime time, CBS. I came to hate the engineers in Master
Control who had the audience mics up way too high so the screams of teenage
girls drowned out the music. Unfortunately the recording of that historic
broadcast is the same, oh well. You might say it's ironic it followed a pain
reliever commercial, however nothing can relieve the pain of ear bleed. DJs
put an interesting twist on the title of their first American album, Beat The
Meatles, a shall we say clever double entendre.
"New Jersey, the most American of all states. It has everything from
wilderness to the Mafia. All the great things and all the worst,
like Route 22."
