Hi all,

I noticed an error in the Today post about the Hindenburg, hydrogen
didn't make it more maneuverable, helium was unavailable because the US was
the sole source of supply and they wouldn't part with it.

Some years ago I had the distinct pleasure of meeting representitives of
The Hindenburg Historical Society, guests at an Old Barney ARC meeting.
After their presentation I was a bit overwhelmed handling artifacts of the
disaster, mostly plates and silverware. Needless to say I was very impressed
and left with a sense of awe and everlasting memories.

Also another club, the last I was in has a 70cM repeater and the critical
packet node/BBS in central NJ atop Hangar 1 at Lakehurst. It's a critical
node because it provides connectivity between the WW link in NY and southern
NJ/southeast PA, also the BBS for the Ramapo ARC in northern NJ.
It has 2 70cM 9600bd links pointing north to NY and Ramapo, also a 1.25M
1200bd link pointing south. The 2M user port is what APRS calls a WIDE WIDE,
a digi with the widest coverage of all. Since the southern half of the state
is flat and the packet and 70cM repeater antennas are at 200ft HAAT the
radio horizon is far in the distance.

"New Jersey, the most American of all states. It has everything from
wilderness to the Mafia. All the great things and all the worst,
like Route 22."
