Hi Ken and all,
At the moment I haven't yet seen the junk mail, but want to react to the
idea of JNOS not working properly.
Yes, there obviously is at least one issue with JNOS 2.0 as we have seen
with the forwarding issues between I0OJJ and N1URO (I hope the cancelled
this forwarding route), but for the rest I'd say it works absolutely
fine in the BBS system......
I've been doing this for over 20 years now!
Yes, I still run JNOS 1.11f from which JNOS 2.0 is a rewrite.

But, no BBS bulletins should be taken out of the BBS forwarding system
and forwarded via SMTP and then be re-introduced in the BBS system as it
screws up the BID system as the H-address lines are either left out of
the forwarded bulletins, or are transferred to the message body (smtp
headers on).

It's fine to take BBS bulletins out of the BBS system, or introduce
messages into the BBS system from JNOS which were forwarded via SMTP as
these will have a P(ersonal) status and basically only would include
personal messages. If used to address a message to a bulletin area, like
all@ww, it only will be readable for people with Sysop status.

I'm not fully aquainted with NNTP as I first didn't have a powerful enough
PC system to run NNTP in my JNOS, and the last 15 years it has been on a
wish-list that was piled over again and again, but at least introducing
bulletins originated from NNTP direct to a BBS system connected JNOS
system also will be totally fine. However, if also forwarded out via the
NNTP system and then also introduced into the BBS system from an other
system I'm pretty sure will result in multiple copies with different
BIDs going round in the BBS system.

Just some things JNOS operators should keep in mind and simply prevent
from happening.
Just like BBS operators will need to stay on the ball and prevent some
issues... We've seen plenty of doubles that were not introduced from a
JNOS system. Many were from new OpenBCM systems, but again not all.

I am opposed to my bulletins being placed on systems where these bulletins
can be publicly accessed by anyone, including search engines and spambots,
from the Internet, without that the user first has to logon to have access
to the system!
Having Packet bulletins on display on so many systems, where the sysops
think these bulletins are so important for the people outside of Amateur
Radio that they need to have access to them, quite often indefinitely, is
just ridiculous Internet polution!
