Under The G. I. Bill the town of Winfield, an unincorporated village bordered
by Rahway, Clark and Linden, NJ was built, services provided by Linden. Until
recently, sorry, don't recall the date it remained housing for GIs and their
families. Then it was incorporated and the municipal building containing city
hall, police and fire departments was constructed, the department of public
works and city yard constructed nearby. During its history many improvements
to the 2 and 4 family units were made, if the WW2 GIs saw it now they'd never
recognize the place.
